The Next Big Homebrew Is Set In An Urban Yokai Campaign (Karas) (Patreon)

Howdy folks! I'm currently pouring a lot of effort into a big homebrew inspired by the 2005 OVA series: KARAS! This will be my entry for this year's Monster Week, because the theme this time around is FEY. This is my second time participating in this big community event, and for last year's dragon theme, I did Monster Hunter's Zoh Shia.

I know I did a poll a few weeks ago between this and Saber (Fate series), but ultimately, Karas has A LOT more to offer in terms of a fresh perspective on fey. For the folks who voted for Saber, I humbly apologize, especially since it's the one that won my recent poll. To make it up to you guys, I'm giving a 40% discount to all items in our Ko-Fi shop until the end of April! You can click this LINK or use the code SABERAPOLOGY on checkout (Ko-Fi store only).

Karas tackles themes of society's march of progress and its crumbling relationship with its spiritual roots through the lens of a Tokusatsu-coded battle anime.

As mortals embrace convenience and efficiency, the yokai (essentially Japanese Fey), who once thrived on the humans' fears and beliefs in the supernatural, have weakened significantly. Enter Eko, a former guardian, who sees the society's advance as a gross descent into debauchery. His solution is to empower the yokai with cyber augmentation and eventually to subjugate the humans rather than be bound to them.

I'm planning on releasing this in the week of April 20, so it's not too long a wait. The homebrew will have the following:

• Campaign setting

• Factions

• New Backgrounds

• A new Warlock Subclass

• New Feats

If there's enough time, I intend to add more:

• Custom Stat Blocks for the Techno-Yokai

• Campaign milestones

• New Species options

It's been over 20 years since Karas came out, and I want to use what little influence I have with my platform to bring it back into public consciousness and breathe some life into Tatsunoko's forgotten IP. So even if you don't know or haven't seen Karas, the upcoming homebrew is especially made for you!
