[CONCEPT SHOWCASE] Foxes Den (Patreon)
Content
Foxes Den is an idea that's been simmering in the background for a little while now. I don't normally show rough drafts of future projects, but I thought you might enjoy this peek while you wait patiently for the next chapter of Your Tomboy Bestie. There's no release date for this - it's just an idea at this stage. I have a lot of work to do on YTB and the others before I can think of launching a new series. But if these characters intrigue you, please let me know so I can put it on the appropriate shelf in my backlog.
Ken is a young veterinary student living alone in a small apartment. He is shy and generally keeps to himself. As his field of studies suggests, he adores animals and has a heart of gold.
One evening, he is followed home by a small black fox. This triggers a memory from years earlier: As a teenager, Ken was walking through the Forbidden Forest when he saw a small black fox stuck in fencing wire. He freed the distressed fox, suffering scratches in the process. Before it vanished into the night, the fox appeared to turn around and regard him for a moment. He noticed that it had white tufts of fur on the inside of its ears, similar to the one that was following him home just now.
Dismissing it as a coincidence, Ken pays it no further mind.
The next morning, as Ken is preparing to leave for university, there's a knock at the door. It's a stunning, raven-haired young woman who introduces herself as Kuro.
She's extremely friendly and chatty, and Ken also notes that she's also very tall, with a body that is almost inhumanly perfect. She wants to know if Ken has a spare room he would be willing to rent. He does have a spare room, he replies, but it's not for rent; he's using it as a study space.
After Kuro fails to convince Ken to allow her to rent the room, she startles him by claiming to be the fox that he rescued that night in the Forbidden Forest. Ken understandably dismisses the claim out of hand despite being surprised that she could have knowledge of that event. To Ken's surprise, black fox ears with white tufts sprout out of Kuro's head as he watches in astonishment.
Kuro explains that she and her soul-bonded partner Shiro are Fox Folk: shape-shifting beings that reside in a world parallel to our own. In the other world, they are foxes who live in a magic-based society. When they cross into our realm, they are able to change their appearance and size to appear human.
The Forbidden Forest is in the process of being cleared, rendering the portal that they use to cross between worlds inaccessible.
Kuro pleads again for Ken to allow her and Shiro to stay with him. She says she knows that he is kind-hearted because of his actions that evening long ago, and it would just be until they found a way to return to their own realm. Ken realizes that in her mind, he is an incredible hero. Not wanting to shatter that image, he agrees to let them stay in the spare room.
Kuro
Friendly and charming, Kuro has developed a fondness for humans despite Fox Folk being apprehensive or even hostile toward them. She likes to have fun and flirt, and possesses a deep curiosity for human culture and inventions.
Shiro
Stoic and reserved, Shiro is apprehensive and mean towards Ken at first. She makes it clear that she does not trust humans, and that she is staying with Ken out of sheer desperation. She is even taller than Kuro, and possesses an intimidatingly muscular form that bears scars of her former occupation as a soldier.
The first night that the girls spend at his apartment, Ken is awakened by loud and intense moans of pleasure. Kuro and Shiro have been bonded for their entire adult lives, and their sex life is quite healthy. Too healthy in fact, as their constant, passionate lovemaking becomes an ongoing distraction and disturbance for Ken.
They seem like a tight pair... but perhaps if Shiro could warm to Ken, there could be room for one more?
Fun fact about Fox Folk: They are magical beings that can change their shape and size at will. Their ability to do so is influenced by their emotional state and the time of the day. As foxes, they become small and nimble. As humans, they are normally human-sized, though there are urban myths of sightings of Fox Folk that were up to 10 feet tall. They can also choose to show or hide their foxy features, like their ears, tails, sharp teeth and claws.
