at this point all of them except the last 2; they came out in the long gap between S1 and S2 to keep fans happy. 2 of them are cannon. The first one (Diary) you should have watched earlier as it gave some clues that might slightly confuse you in the future.

All Kenny has ever known, and embraced, for his entire life was violence and a pursuit of power. However Uri's peaceful and compassionate nature, despite having a tremendous amount of god like power, shook him to his core when he met him on that faithful day. So yes, Kenny wanted the power of the Founding Titan simply because he wanted to know what it would be like to not be a violent "piece of shit" of a person. His character, and backstory, is one example of the running theme of nature versus nurture that can be found in AoT. P.S. There was a major flaw with Kenny's plan and it wasn't so much because Grisha stole the Founding Titan. Hint: The reason why it was a bad plan can be pieced together using this episode and a few other episodes.

The OVA's are worth watching. The OVA's provide a break from the main story but they are also used to help flesh out some characters a bit. The OVA's are very well done and not filler episodes IMHO. However save Mikasa's OVA until after episode 3x14 (49).

Just some clarification, ODM gear existed before Reiner and Barty infiltrated the walls. They were there several years before the big betrayal and then reconnecting with whoever this Beast Titan is.
