Ymir left with Reiner and Bertholt for 2 reasons. 1, she realized that Erin had the founding Titan which meant Historia had a chance of surviving within the walls of Paradis. Sacrificing herself meant that Reiner and Bertholt could leave Historia alone. 2. She knew what Reiner and Bertholt were up against. She knew they weren't just some blood thirsty maniacs and what would happen to them if they returned empty handed. She was returning what she "took" from them in the first place.

Ok that makes sense but it feels kinda like headcannon. Did we miss that explanation or does it come later?

Drift3r

Exactly, this is why I always recommend people go back and re-watch Ymir's backstory from Season 2. It ends up making more sense given the bigger picture of the new knowledge of Marley and the world at large in Season 4.

Drift3r

What I love about this episode is the fact that Eren empathizes with Reiner but that doesn't stop him from doing what he needs to do. P.S. Do you remember the Owl's name? It was Eren Kruger.

Yimir came to the island after the walls; hence, she did not have her memories wiped.

TKOhhh

WHAAAAAAAT no I don’t remember the Kruger part!

Random

Although, this episode isnt my favorite, it is by far the one I have rewatched the most. Eren keeps his nickname of suicidal maniac.

Trung Ta

Remember the context here, Reiner is not us the viewers, he did not have the info of how Eren was able to activate the founding titan power. All he saw in season 2 was like “holy crap Eren can control titans” so he reported back to Marley what he saw, now Marleyan are shitting their pants because Eren could do it again. Hence this rally for the war declaration.

Eugene Conner

No, it was explained in her inner monologue during the end of season 2. So much happens in this show that it doesn't all click on the first watch. Also it's written in such a way that it's a completely different experience watching it as an insider. Don't feel bad for missing details.

Fredrik Hagland

Remember how the Tyburs and millitary talked about a culling and a "treefelling" a few episodes back?

Drift3r

I'll give you one more freebie. If you go back to the episode where Grisha is on the wall with the other prisoners. There is one guy that gets thrown off the wall, he's the one that recruited Grisha in to the Restorationist movement, without being transformed into a Pure Titan. Grisha calls out to that guy using his last name. What's his last name? I think you can connect the dots from there.

The rest of this season is an absolute ride. I don't know how you don't just binge it all in one go and change outfits to pretend you're spacing it out. Can't wait until I see y'all react to the second op!

TKOhhh

It's so hard we have so many responsibilities right now that we have to keep it to 2 per week but it's SO GOOD EVERY TIME WE SIT DOWN FOR IT

TKOhhh

yeah this is a big distinction. He thinks Eren has complete control.

Richie Kimbumina

Remember this Eren is no longer the hero he has now become the villian
