Did you guys realize the fixers name is Mike? This is the first episode they say his name and I’m surprised you guys didn’t say anything.

In the opening scene, walt is not with his friends' (their previous) company. They started Grey Matter together which is now a multi billion dollar company. In the dialog the realtor says 'Sandia Laboratories' which is different, which ig is a local chemical lab. I don't think the show goes into anymore detail about his work there or what happened and why he became a teacher, but i suspect it might have to do something with the economic crash leading him to get laid off, presumably cause he could have been a higher paid employee seeing his brilliance. Through out previous episodes, walt has worked in 2 3 different companies after grey matter (mentioned in conversations about past) although nothing more is ever said or shown about it. Just that he has hopped a lot after grey matter, and although the brilliant scientist he is having a nobel prize, he still winds up as a high school teacher, which i feel is almost certainly due to his gigantic ego 😅.
