Tanya is most definitely a "Freedom Fighter," for her own freedom to eventually have an easy life in the rear. 🤣

Railway Guns were absolutely devasting in both World War I and World War II. They were primarily fielded by Germany and used to great effect. They could be so far behind the front lines that enemy forces couldn't really do anything about them. Their major weakness, besides not being able to be fired rapidly, was required railroad tracks to move, meaning their range was limited by wherever tracks were laid down. If you destroyed the tracks, it couldn't move. Planes are obviously a good counter to them. So after World War II they just became irrelevant. Much like many of Germany's attempted super weapons that were impractical in practice.

Really refreshing to see the movie again. Really enjoyed it watching it with you two, made it even more nice. Can't wait to see Tanyas army in action!

Drift3r

Also if the only real way to damage the largest railway gun in WW2 was through the use of thermite. Which is something we learned from Walter White in "Breaking Bad". Of course in this world magic does the job just as good as thermite.😄

Easily my top 2 movie after Kizumonogatari as always ur reactions are the best

FrankG

The Thing with the Cessna was a real Thing during the Cold War, a 19yo German landed near the Red Square. Look up Mathias Rust

papagolfwhiskey

So she's referring to an actual event in our world's history. Someone did indeed land a four seater civilian plane (a Cessna) in the middle of Red Square. Which also from the others' comments doesn't appear to exist in Tanya's new world either.

George McCall

Great reactions as always, I can't wait to see your reactions to the OP and ED. Season 2 so sooooooooooooon.

Sue has actually 3 blessing: 1 from her dad when he died. 2 from her mother who prayed for her safety and 3rd her own praying. This is the reason she is so powerfull

Hhound42

Tanya is giving Rerugen ulcers contemplating what she will do next. The cards were Viktoriya's hand that she put down cleaning out the others. Salamanders in myths are always in the middle of the fire so Tanya's back in the thick of it. Now we get second season and more novels to go for season 3, season 4 and.....

Mary Sue I ask you. Who is the real demon? The cold rationalist? or the raging fanatic with no concerns for collateral damage safety of her comrades... or anything outside her petty revenge?

Dan Cervantes

Sandy Shithole sounds like an incredible beach dive bar.

Luca Dekrell

i've never seen the movie before, this was insane. Though I do wish Mary Sue and Serebryakov had a bit of a fight, as well. Would have liked to see if Mary reacts differently to another young girl on the battlefield that isn't "the demon that killed my father"

Julian Cabrera

I think most people forget that being X is the reason the war has gone on farther then it has and been more brutal warfare because he really wants to make Tanya fight forever Tanya just wanted to live a free life but being X makes her fight for die

Dan Cervantes

In the LNs, it seems a little more obvious, but Tanya gets regular medical screenings because she is worried that the 1. pray 2. get real strong pattern is corrupting her brain. I’m not that far in the novels so I don’t know if this a real issue or something psychosomatic, but that is part of the explanation for why she doesn’t pray more.

Bryan Getz

Correct Victoria is from Russia she escaped the mage purge

Bryan Getz

They got rid of the mages because they posed to big of a threat to the government. Probably some of them werent fond of communism

LuxLoser

The usage of magic through their gems is described as being like a hard narcotic euphoria as their system is flooded with magical stimulant. That's part of the concern. The Type 95 (the Cursed gem, as Tanya calls its) is even more intense. Tanya doesn’t feel entirely in control of herself and fears Being X may be influencing her through it. However, it may also be her own denial at how the war is changing her as a person.

Zolwiol

And this movie is good without greater context than "Tanya is isekai'd salaryman that god tries to ignate faith in". I think the movie will be entertaining with just that premise set to someone who didn't watch the series.

It's also of note that Mary drags her squad into fights and she never personally gets the conseqences (until the last one but I'm making a point here) but you can see her team mates getting blasted away.

Ryo

That letter Mary Sue made out at the start of the movie was made to her mother and her grandmother, rather than to her father (though he was mentioned).
