March plans! (Patreon)

Heya everyone! It’s spike with the usual end of the month report! Well, this is only the second one I’ve made, but I’ve enjoyed sharing some of the more hidden things that Donna and I have been working on! Let me know if this continues to be fun for you!

First….WE GOT NOMINATED FOR BEST COMIC STRIP OF 2022!! I always work my hardest! So being nominated after all the late nights, and countless revisions is a true honor!

Vote Part Time Dragons for Best Comic Strip! https://ursamajorawards.org/voting2022/

Your vote matters! Your support can help us win the best comic strip 2022 award!

Steams: They’ve been fun! Starting last month Donna started streaming the drawing of the comics on twitch, we don’t always do it, but everyone seems to enjoy those a lot! So we’re probably going to try to keep doing those as much as we can!

You can join us on twitch here: https://www.twitch.tv/spikeden

Game: Monster Throne released its next build! V0.1.5. It has Luther’s new looks, a little more story and areas as well! However due to some changes in the way I do physics, it seems like this one has more bugs than usual. I’m not worried too much long term, this movement system I’ve been working on will become the method we use to make enemies quickly, it's gonna be awesome!!! …Once all the bugs have been ironed out. Expect another build towards the end of the month! I feel like I’ve been riding the limits of what I can make in a month, soon the limit will be broken and I’ll be at a new level! I can just FEEL it's close!

If you want to play the latest build, you can do so here: https://parttimedragons.itch.io/monster-throne

Comics: Not much to say here, I’ve been experimenting with a lot of new characters, new kinds of stories and having more fun with them! Staying the course here!

Merch: WOW you all loved the werewolf boyfriend/girlfriend/partner shirt. I’ve NEVER received that many comments about wanting to see the next shirts we make, so uh… I’ll work on that! I’m still quite inexperienced in the ways of making shirts, but I’ll make more funny little shirts that make me laugh! Look forward to that, maybe this month? LOL

If there’s any kinds of shirts or stickers you’d like to see let me know!

Videos: This is probably the biggest change we’re going to be making this early in the year. I think most of you have seen that last year we were making 2 different kinds of videos. This was done because our original animated videos were a lot of work to make, but they never performed too well. So we experimented with two different kinds of videos.

Short animated videos that had some animation to them like we had always done, and the second is even SHORTER reel style voice acted versions of our comics. Turns out the second kind of video is WAAAY more popular. After a year, on YT, tik tok and Instagram the old style videos are now less than 1% of all of the video views we get on a monthly basis.

So going forward we are going to be retiring the old fully animated videos for a while! We will be releasing 1 or 2 more videos in this style over the next few months to make sure everyone that paid for a cameo in an animated video gets what they got. Hopefully this means we have more time to work on the game and on the comics! Because the short reel-style videos have been doing very well and I can’t wait to do a bunch more!

Patreon: Honestly nothing Huuuuuge to mention here, but due to us retiring the animated videos, we’re going to do some minor re-tooling on the tiers.

2+   : Early comics + Secret panels
10+ : Dragon RPG game builds
30+ : Comic cameo
50+ : Video Cameo + Animated Icon

So if you are a 50+ supporter you get to appear in a comic, and you’re guaranteed that the comic will be turned into a video! I also updated the copy in the whole of the patreon page! I feel everything is easier to understand and straightforward than before!

I can’t believe that was all stuff from february! I’m gonna keep on working hard to make the march just as awesome! Thanks again for your support, YOU are the reason I can keep on doing this every month!

Let me know if you have any questions in here, and I'll make sure to answer them all!
