Jake and Amir Watch Bus & Frat

Comments

Ather

tbh I think the main issue they and other people had with it is that it's just unnecessary - it fits amir's character yeah, but racism was an even bigger issue at that time than it is now, and they could have easily replaced that joke with something else instead of potentially making their viewers uncomfortable

Ather

I can understand both sides of this mind you, I'm just sharing my two cents

Erik Crust

"Damn Hur-bitch, i thought you was dead" was one of those lines I'll always remember from a J&A episode.

Lucas

“Bus” was always one of my favorite episodes because of the Audi line as well as the story of what happened on the subway. I have cried out “Score one for the Hurwitz brothers. If you don’t like our power take it from us with brute force.” As a taunt in situations where I could get away with being a sore winner.

Titi

I feel being in a frat could get you paid because its also a way to network but jake was too insecure and dumb to think of it

Titi

The character

N S

I'd love to see lights out, that's my favorite of all time

Greg Turismo

I see how you could fee embarrassed, but that's n*ggas in Paris joke is so funny to me still

Jack Feneley

Agreed with Lights out. I think it might be their best one!

Richard Spencer

They talked over my favourite part of 'Frat': 'What did you have to do?' 'Eat socks.' How fast Jake responds so matter-of-factly is hilarious to me.

Lukas De Man

I always love it when Amir calls Jake out on extensively rehashing stuff that Amir did or said. Because that’s basically the essence of the show. Meta perfection. Does anyone remember other episodes in which this happens?

Arvid

Jake rehashing the events in bus makes it one of my favourite episodes. ”Score one for the hurwitz brothers, if you dont like our power take it from us with brute force!”

Tom Sullivan

They shouldn't be ashamed of it, the context isn't racist in any way. Amir is too dumb to understand what he's saying.

Kid Squid

In the episode where Amir yells the N word in public, he starts the commentary off with "you're very dark".

Odin Blaine

Yeah that hard r is a bit over the top but other than that Bus is a good B for me and Frat is a B+ because I love all the insecure Jake eps

Daniel Espina

Yeah Lights Out was a pretty good movie.

David

Frat gets points for the social commentary

Sam Kautz

Tell us the story of frat that got cut out. Just give us some example lines

Chuck Lidell

As an African American, Bus is one of my favorites episodes, and. The way the guy behind reacts and Jakes reaction to Amir saying the hard r is comedy gold. Thats just my opinion. Its not like you're promoting racism, though i can understand people's sensitivity to such a vilified word. I laughed so hard when I watched it. All im saying is context is everything, and you guys wrote it in such a way that its clearly viewed as wrong even within the universe. Defying expectation is what comedy is.

Larrence (Corey P)

Isnt dom irerra a UFC guy?? Also, I think Amirs lack of awareness makes the ni**as in Paris joke send the short over the top. And If you're not over the top you ain't doing comedy right

Scott.

It's been said already but that "controversial" joke is one of my favorite jokes of all time. It's such a staple of 2013.

Yak Almighty

yeah not a huge fan of jake and amir getting offended by the jokes they were making couple of years ago

djurnamn

synchronized dancing at 3:15

MMO Fallout

It fits the character that Amir would casually and very loudly drop the hard R on a crowded bus but also be cautious enough in a direct confrontation to say "bullshee-ite."

Spencer Barrett

I don't think you should worry about the "n" word. It's literally the name of the song.

Richard Barlow

Hate the overly apologist "oh we better take this down" attitude - it was just the name of the song and it was the lack of social awareness of the Amir character to shout it on a bus that made it funny. Holds up in 2019.

Steven

If they truly thought it was that offensive they wouldn't have put this video up. The only people truly offended are the folks like you commenting about how their opinions shouldn't change.

Scott.

Yeah I want to be clear that I only support what I said, not what anyone else tacked on.

Valter

People saying "that's just the name of the song". I think you misheard. What they are acting surprised and apologetic over (albeit in a semi-exagerated way) is the "Hard R" part, not strictly the n-word part. Like that is both rather extreme for Amir, and inaccurate, since the name of the song isn't n*****ers, it's n****as in Paris. It's not just about where they are saying it, part of the joke in the video is that Amir is going above and beyond what the song demands to be extra insensitive and vile.

Ian Bradley

fun fact, Goof is an offensive term in Canadian Prison.

Noah Priebe

I'm African American too and I seriously laughed so hard. It's really annoying when people get offended for a people group they arent a part of. I'm with you here man haha

Noah Priebe

I really don't find it over the top tbh! Fit Amir's character very well which made it hilarious!

Lucas Campoli

i cant understand how people can say they are politically correct and advocate censorship based purely on their own ignorance. but tjat is sort of politics, having the conversation. is what makes JandA so great too.

Chuck Lidell

Yeah right? Like, we have been dealing with worse, I think I can handle a censored word in my favorite web series.

Oliver N

Exactly my thoughts, are we really doing anything positive by banishing all mentions of the word, even in contexts where it's literally supposed to be a fucked up thing?

Dylan Tyrrell

What if you guys just had amir say "knickers in paris" and bleep the "ck" syllable?

Telgeng Clitmustoot

Appreciated the recent shoutout to "leased to own an Audi".
