Hey folks,

There is something we want to discuss with you, version 3.0 of Roundscape is close. A huge milestone for the game.

As you know we're giving our best not to break save files for almost a year now but it came with a cost.

We couldn't add features or change things because we are limited by trying to keep save files working.

Here's the Idea.

We kill save files with 3.0 of Roundscape.

In return you get a patch that adds a lot of awesome new features (as a minimap), improved visuals (UI and Menu rework) and a lot of QoL (Quality of Life) improvements.

But we want to poll this idea, I like the idea very much. One final patch that kills save files in which we try to add as much features/improvements as possible.

Let us know what you think in the poll below!

As much as I like my save file, if it's time to move ahead then it's time to move ahead. Sacrificing progress for backwards compatibility doesn't sound reasonable. Besides, new excuse to play the game again from scratch! Fuck yea!

epoxymoron

Yep some times you have to take something apart to make it better, like adding a room on your house, you can't really do it with the wall connecting the room staying in one piece.

florvas

I'd be more in favor of it if they really were big improvements...but a minimap and UI? I've done twenty playthroughs at least since back when slinsk was as far as you could get, trying to get all the scenes, keep them saved, keep track of them...and it gets REALLY old. If saves break again I'm probably not touching the game again until final release. As a side note, seconding daniel wong's suggestion. If this HAS to be done, at *least* add something to make playthroughs more tolerable for those of us that have done way too many

daniel wong

Maybe u can add back the cheat succubus to help people to speed through story back to thier last saves?

Roundscape

Those are changes we can guarantee. We would also attempt an update of the engine from 1.3 to 1.5 which would massivly increase perfomance and fix a large chunks of the gallery. The features I listed in the post are the ones I can promise but we would strive for more.

Roundscape

The demon is still there, you can find her in the warlock tower near Oakshire. You have to kill the warlock and she offers you cheats.

Argenten

Question, would we be unable to save for good or is this a case of scrapping current saves to start fresh?

Sibgeir

I mean if it does allow you to give more content in the game sign me in =p

Flame

save save files "psh" yours truly starts from scratch every time

Phyroxis

Are you talking about killing current save files or the ability to save period?

Wanaziba

I read it as current save files.

TheLoneWolf

This is entirely that the save game data from every version will be unusable in 3.0. So your old save will not work, but the save system will exist and work still with new saves from 3.0 onward.

daniel wong

Maybe put the demon earlier like at start again perhaps ?

John Raatz

While I like the idea of being able to import save games, I'd rather prefer an overall improved game experience with 3.0. Naturally, with this I still want to be able to save games so that should go without saying lol.

Lee Thompson

As far as I am concerned, when a game is in development, save files are expendable. I just wish Roundscape MV (and some other MV based games) didn't freeze the video thread randomly on me.

Galgano

Absolutely kill the save. This is an incomplete(ish) game. Trying your hardest to keep a status quo for saves is asinine. Sure, maybe when the game is fully completed you can try your hardest to keep saves from breaking but not now, while it's still in development.

Wildquill

In the new build you'd be able to save. Its just that saves from 2.8 and 2.9 would not work on 3.0. In 3.0 you'd need to start a new game. Once you're playing the new game in 3.0, you can still save.

Argenten

Ah, then I need to change my vote. Wording gave me the impressions saves as a whole were being done away with. A terifying thought for how big the game is :P

Full Spice

Do the QoL changes include fixing up the gallery to display all scenes?

Oscar F'n Wilde

It sounds like the view is towards ending save states, which I will adjust to. I've been using two computers and using mobile saves, but I think I will be ready to adjust the no save state versions. I will just have to complete the game now each run before updating.

Spectar79

I restart my games after every patch anyway. So go for it.

Wildquill

3.0 will allow for save files. Sorry for the mixup. The point with the poll is checking if people will be okay not being able to take their old saves into 3.0 because of how 3.0 will be made.

Wildquill

Yes, that is one of our QoL improvements for 3.0.

Wildquill

Sorry for the mixup Oscar. You will be able to save your game in 3.0. It's purely a matter of, if we upgrade 3.0 to include these changes, it will mean people cannot use 2.9 saves for 3.0.

Wildquill

I totally get you. That's why I've been looking over this section. Wanted to make sure people know we're not just removing a basic function.

VC

Great idea. I often restart the game since you often add new elements at the start of the game.

Thoka

i like the ide special if mean i dont have keep tons save file like a game from from 90/00ish just to be able to to see som screan again

TheRevanchist

If this includes actually making the quest log useful, I'm all for it. As it stands, i find the quest log almost entirely useless, half the time I get a quest and it does not even show up in the log, they almost never update correctly or give overly helpful information. Also the Gallery absolutely needs to be finished.

SexyPotato

If you guys add a map could you maybe add something like quest markers? If that is not too much to ask for.

Forgotten Legacy

With the new guide i will be able to start a new game and fix all of my mistakes. Great timing on the guide release friends. TY TY !!

Oscar F'n Wilde

Oh! That sounds fine then! The wording was a little vague, thanks for the clarification.

Retromancer

Then kill kill kill the save files

Zarcinia

i love this idea would love to see all these improvements this is by far one of my fav games tho my only complaint is the female mc needs more content lol

Zaela Zhezzaia

Does this mean Roundscape is ending?

Wildquill

Not at all. We just wanted to be sure that people would be okay having an update that will offer many improvements but not let them use previous update saves.

Blackbryre

There are always updates with lewd content I feel I have to restart to experience, so as a result I end up pushing back my next playthrough. This news doesn't really affect that policy *shrug*. All I'd ask is that the save file of the new format be editable (like the current), since farming affection for the fifth time does get old.

Lolorita

hot - or + but ideia need update important!: if fight transform clothes until naked , understand, HOT +++

Skrayper

* Fix the ability to revisit the scenes. A LOT of them are not visible. * Fix the quest log * Incorporate the guards into an H-Scene * Some interesting "loss" scenes would be fun, perhaps in the Arena * A change log incorporated directly into the game's main menu * Enable a cheat for backers (if there's a public build) to keep us from grinding affection upteen billion times
