4AM coffee with Drach! A great way to start your day.

A family friend served with British merchant Marine during WW2. He rarely complained about it being cold, and on being asked why he would settle down in a comfy chair and tell us boys about the many days spent chipping ice off the decks and upper works of which ever cargo ship he was on at the time in one of the Russian convoys. I guess he learned to be immune from cold...

I would like to be a "fly on the wall" when Admiral King confronted the bureau of ordinance about the MK 14 torpedo.

Steven Palmer

Thank you for the great time talking in Alameda.

Admiral Richardson was the one who played the Pearl Harbor command right... he refused an impossible assignment.

USMC vet here, served in a support echelon in garrison, and I can 100% confirm that boredom is ABSOLUTELY rife, and I can 150% confirm that the go-to solution of many a Marine has been the 40-rack

In WW2 I think Spruance and Kurita had the right idea when it came to choosing flagships. A heavy cruiser can go pretty much anywhere it's needed regardless of what the carriers and battleships were doing.

I hope you had a great visit to the SF Bay Area.
