Hello patrons! As promised, this is the first of an ongoing series about the Japanese language - I'll talk about interesting phrases, vocabulary, and grammar, things I learn from Gundam episodes, translation, and really anything related to Gundam and learning Japanese. I am also using this segment to learn more sound-mixing and production skills (while I do some of the rough edits for the regular podcast episodes, Thom handles all of the production on those).

I also hope to answer some patron questions - message me here or email me at gundampodcast.com.

Below are the show notes. Happy listening!

- Nina

- Pages on idioms and proverbs by Languagerealm.com,  the JTB USA blog, nihonshock.com, and BondLingo (a website for learning Japanese).

- Kodansha has a number of useful reference books for Japanese language-learners, including this one of idioms:

Garrison, Jeff. Kodansha's Dictionary of Basic Japanese Idioms. Kodansha, 2002. Find excerpts online here.

- I mention the website WaniKani, which I highly recommend for studying kanji.

- The intro song is "The city" by The Kyoto Connection, from the album Kyoto Soundscapes, licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.

- The outdo song is "Brain Power" by Mela, from the album Mela two, licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.

I've really enjoyed the language information previously shared in the podcast and have found myself picking up more little details when watching Gundam and other Japanese language media. In other words, I'm very excited about this bonus content!
