Show Notes

NOTE: Show notes are the same as those for episode 10.6

Mobile Suit Breakdown is written, recorded, and produced within Lenapehoking, the ancestral and unceded homeland of the Lenape, or Delaware, people. Before European settlers forced them to move west, the Lenape lived in New York City, New Jersey, and portions of New York State, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Connecticut. Lenapehoking is still the homeland of the Lenape diaspora, which includes communities living in Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Ontario.

You can learn more about Lenapehoking, the Lenape people, and ongoing efforts to honor the relationship between the land and indigenous peoples by visiting the websites of the Delaware Tribe and the Manhattan-based Lenape Center. Listeners in the Americas and Oceania can learn more about the indigenous people of your area at https://native-land.ca/.We would like to thank The Lenape Center for guiding us in creating this living land acknowledgment.

Yay, the ad agency research is going into a third part! I hope it NEVER ENDS. Also pleased that "old man polycule" is now official terminology. As for Fuala's career outlook, it does feel like she's about to be told that her mission is a failure and her lifestyle's too extreme.

Zambot 3, Ideon, Dunbine, Garzey's Wing and Wings of Rean all begin with the protagonist (or one of the protagonists) riding a motorcycle. Sho Zama, the protagonist of Dunbine, even dreams of becoming a professional motocross racer. Tomino has been interested in bikes for a long time prior to Victory.

Xabungle also gets a lot of comedy mileage out of its one-wheeled motorbikes, which the characters keep falling off. The only surprising thing is that Tomino had to be ordered to put them in Victory!

Motorcycles are also featured heavily in Metal Armor Dragonar. The Giganos Empire uses motorcycle tanks similar to the ones in this episode to invade the protagonists' colony. Once the story gets to Earth, they use full size Metal Armors that are motorcycles. The top half of these Metal Armors can disconnect from the motorcycle base and hover, looking a lot like the Victory Gundam when Uso uses it without the boots.
