Im only 15 min in but considering the chair situation... I'm 100% for a good chair for your work situation (whatever that may be). Like living with a hurting back/neck/butt etc over a piece of furniture is NOT worth it. However.... My concerns are how well Terry can fall out of it when needed...also thinking it's too big for him to pick up and dance with or play it like a guitar. fun fact! dorothea and tis the damn season are two sides of the same story: one person (dorothea) leaving a small town and only coming back for holidays and stuff while the person she left behind stays there. my personal headcanon is that these two went to the same high school as betty, james, and augustine, like a little mini soap opera :)

For Gold Rush- I think to fully understand the breakdown of the lyric “the gray of my day-old tea,” you have to jump back up to the key change earlier. She starts to daydream and wonder about this handsome man, what it must be like to be him. She even imagines herself padding across his wooden floors barefoot, leaving her clothes at his place, feeling comfortable enough to have lively discussions at the dinner table, and even wandering around a coastal town together, where people would comment on their love, etc. But, then the fantasy fades back into the gray reality. She’s wasted a bunch of time thinking about it all. And a cup of black tea that sits out all day is definitely gray in color in the evening. K is right that that’s why the lyrics at the end call back to the fact that her fantasizing has turned his whole life into folklore. But it could never come true, since she doesn’t want to risk falling in love and feeling out of control. So she will never talk to him at dinner, they will never visit the coastal town, they will never have a pure love, so she has to move on. His eyes are so inviting she almost jumps in. But almost doesn’t count in love.

Yes!! 🤎🤎 My favourite album!!! Evermore is so underrated. My number 1 album. Hope you’re doing the deluxe as Right Where You Left Me is perfection. My top 5 for this album: 1) Evermore - some people get put off by the change in tempo for the bridge, but just think of anxiety.. it’s honestly the most relatable song for me out of Taylor’s entire discography. 2) Tolerate It - as a DV survivor.. the empowerment of that bridge.. say no more 3) Cowboy Like Me - I cry with this one every time 4) It’s Time To Go - lyrical perfection 5) Right Where You Left Me - the story telling in this track is a masterpiece. I always felt there was a parallel between happiness and so long, London. In happiness she switched from talking about how she’ll find happiness to how he’ll find happiness. In so long, London, she says I’ll find someone and then switched to you’ll find someone. She’s angry and sad about the relationship, but still has so much love and respect for the person and recognizes that she wants them to be happy too 🥺

"honey when I'm above the trees, I see this for what it is" I think comes from the saying 'you can't see the forest for the trees' which means you can't see the big picture or the whole picture of a situation (the forest) because you're stuck on some of the details (the individual trees) so it's not really about her being above/ beside the trees - it's just that with the change in perspective she can see the entire situation for what it was. It's why she can say there was happiness because of you, because of me and there can be happiness for both of us out of our relationship. And in the bridge she says "no one teaches you what to do when a good man hurts you, and you know you hurt him too" so it's not like he's to blame for some major failing that caused them to break up. She was angry when they first split but she knows he never really did any big thing that caused the end. It's apparently about her best friend from high schools end of her 7 year marriage. It just ran its course

This coming so quick on the heels of that album with the intersection of the lyrics with what was happening all around us was just perfection. The introspection and winding melodies stopped me in my tracks and I went down the lyrical rabbit hole. I don’t get all the references and sometimes I think for me that’s more impactful. I wish I could find the channel again but there was a music professor who reviewed this album when it came out and he said objectively tis the damn season is a perfect song in all aspects. The funniest part about that is that Taylor, Aaron and jack wrote it drunk after they filmed long pond studio sessions.

Fun fact happiness is about Taylor’s childhood best friend Abigail and the end of her first marriage. And Abigail did find happiness after her ex, she’s now remarried and just had a baby with her husband. Also Taylor used allusions to the great gatsby in happiness, including the great divide between the elite and poor, the green light, and the line about being a beautiful fool. As well as a nod to the narrator who looks down on everyone while telling the story (honey when I’m above the trees)
