Natalie sings lead on all songs. The other two are sisters and one plays the banjo and one the violin. The sisters met Natalie when she was playing on the streets in Nashville for money. Please please, look up the Chicks Controversy with George W Bush after 9/11, then listen to “Not Ready to Make Nice”! Please!! 🙏🏻 I saw them on their original Goodbye Earl tour in 1998. All 3 of them play at least 2 instruments each! They all play guitar and then they play their own fiddle, banjo, & in some songs piano. Natalie is pretty much always the lead singer. So good!! 🥰

The Chicks were formed in 1989 by sisters Martie and Emily. Natalie didn’t join the group until 1995 (replacing previous members). Then Wide Open Spaces was released in 1998 (Fly, the album with Cowboy Take Me Away and Goodbye. Earl, was released in 1999). All three play guitar. Natalie sings lead. Martie sings back up and plays the fiddle and mandolin. Emily sings back up and plays the banjo and Dobro. This is classic ‘90s country.

This is autobiographical. Natalie was born in Texas. Her dad was a musician while she was growing up and her family often traveled with him. She decided for college she’d move on her own to California to attend Berklee School of Music. This song tells that “dropping off my kid at college so they can pursue their own dreams” story.
