The music videos are all amazing for this album too

tavi 🦀

The way all the videos are cohesive too 😩 I’m sat for this

VadersPetPig

Thank you so much x1000000 I am so ready

Eliezer De la Cruz

The lyrics and the way she delivers them with the vocals 🥰🥰🥰

tavi 🦀

Sympathy Magic and Buckle I think are my top 2 right now but it’s definitely subject to change 😩

VadersPetPig

BTW Florence has been naked since Lungs era this isnt the first time 💀😭

Kate F.

I haven't thought about a single thing except this album for the past 36 hours. Sympathy Magic is literally a life-changing song

lauren

Y’all have 3 more albums of hers! - HBHBHB - High as Hope (has similar sounds to Sympathy Magic and And Love) - Dance Fever I know no one recommends High as Hope but it’s my favorite of the 3 left 😭

VadersPetPig

This album was made during the end of her Dance Fever Tour... during last the two shows... Florence has a ectopic pregnancy, she had her miscarriage on stage and was bleeding, but continued to finish the rest of the show and the tour 10 days after her surgery. This album is a culmination of what she was going through, the fury, pain, suffering, agony, and how songwriting is the only way she can process it all and how performing on stage frees her from all the pain.

Mary (onlyeverthus)

I was kind of listening for the first time with you guys, I listened but Friday was a lot so I wasn't absorbing, lol. This is a really good album though, I can't wait to listen to it more. And like Lauren said already, you've got How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, High as Hope, and Dance Fever, though Dance Fever is probably my least favorite, I just haven't been able to connect with it like the others 😫 Also, there's a couple of songs she did for a movie and a TV show, "Wish That You Were Here" is freaking beautiful, and also "Jenny of Oldstones" from Game of Thrones, which is amazing.

Hannah

To better understand the album, you should check out her interview with Zane Lowe (TW traumatic pregnancy). So glad y’all checked this out, it’s an incredible album and listening experience

shan

you also gotta listen to high as hope and dance fever! your reactions are so good

Noel

So as someone already mentioned, on her last tour she suffered an ectopic pregrancy and a miscarriage while on stage. Her fallopian tube also ruptured, causing internal bleeding, but she still continued and finished the show. Later, the doctor told her she had about a coke can’s worth of blood in her abdomen, and that an emergency surgery was required to save her life. This whole album is much darker because she wanted to capture that feeling and experience. What’s fascinating is that only ten days after the surgery, she went back on tour and finished it, saying that performing was the only thing that could bring her back to a “normal life” and help her overcome the trauma.

Jen Fagan

I cry the whole way through sympathy magic just for her hurt and loss and then her grit and determination at the end. She’s so incredible and I’m so thankful that she’s sharing it all as raw and beautifully as she is.

Noel

Also, listen to HBHBHB please. It's an amazing album 🥹❤️

To me drink deep is referencing the myths of seelie/ unseelie court of fairy. Where they lure humans with promises of passion, escape, revels, ecstasy, etc but they end up being trapped forever if they drink their wine and eat their food. But it’s the food and wine that give them the feel. However the fairy’s are actually cruel, a common theme is having humans dance themselves to death, which ties into the previous album dance fever.

highly recommend listening or watching the symphony of lungs. Florence performs lungs with a live symphony and it’s absolutely beautiful!

awhiterefridgerator

As others have said, her miscarriage/surgery hugely informed the album. I've had similar experiences and have never related to something in music or heard it so well articulated. Usually miscarriage and pregnancy loss is depicted in a quiet sort of way but this explores the anger and shock of the experience. She has been so vulnerable and helped so many of us who have had the same experience. 'The hope and the horror' 'Healing is slow, it comes and it goes' 'A glimpse of sun and a flurry of snow' 'It didn’t keep me safe like you said it would' 'What else? What else? What else?' Amazing work.

Bailey

Sympathy magic 😭😮‍💨

Bailey

“I like Kraken more”🤣

Bailey

I love the witchy dance to drink deep

Ambiepony

Did anyone else get Kate Bush 'Wuthering Heights' vibes when Florence was walking through the field in the red dress at the start of the music video? I'm probably reaching, especially as I've always felt like Florence and Kate have similar witchy essences, but I'd love it if it was a purposeful reference!

Linda Röglin

„The old religion“ seems to be about her miscarriage she suffered back in 2023. This is what the powerless line is about.

Kerri Leigh

Terry, Kaniyia - listen! If she plays at Red Rocks in Colorado - I will buy you tickets! You have to see a show at red rocks

Snotface91

Im so serious when I say I need hours of you two reacting to Florence + The Machine music videos. They're a trip!

Katherine B

If yall go to see her in Atlanta (please do) I’ll be with you there hoping they don’t do all that shaking 🫨

Kerri Botirius

I had a tree fall on me and yes it left me pretty damn powerless. 😅

Jords

The Chamber Versions are also INCREDIBLE 🔥

VadersPetPig

Rewatching and realizing that on And Love, when she said that Love was something else, not a love song meant she felt something greater towards her unborn child.... and now I am shipwreck again 😭

Amy

Love Florence and your reviews. Watching you discover her magic when reviewing Lungs was so fun. But if I can make one small request, it’s that you go back to Lungs and listen to Heavy In Your Arms from the deluxe version. The last minute and a half of that song will have Terry on the floor. Florence is incredible.

Mikaila Roberts

Florence wrote a broadway music for real. The great gatsby

Mikaila Roberts

Also I love you connecting that song to father figure

I just realized this video only has 45 comments and less than 100 likes which feels INSANE to me. This is my favorite Florence album since Ceremonials. Not sure if someone else already mentioned this, but she did go through a huge heartbreak, she had a miscarriage which turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy that nearly killed her. She had to have emergency surgery. This album is absolutely her coming to grips with the loss of her pregnancy and her brush with death

Alison

MMMF!

Nina Alves

Love this album and your reaction!!! I’d love if you would react to HBHBHB (and also Heavy in Your Arms from Lungs)!!!

Alicia Guerrero

I’m forever begging you guys to listen to her 3rd album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful! Wait to watch the music videos from that album because they are all featured in her album movie call The Odyssey. It’s a complete masterpiece!

tavi 🦀

This album was born out of Florence having a miscarriage on tour. I just rewatched this reaction and I’m wondering if yall have had a chance to revisit with that lens at all

E

Begging yall to listen to How Bug How Blue and watch The Odyssey that goes with it. The Odyssey is kind of like a compilation of music videos for How Big How Blue. It’s the most beautiful piece of art. Love your reactions ♥️

Jennifer R.

I got to see her live during her tour of this album and yes, those girls are with her :)
