Now my question is are you aware that Dolly is who wrote “I Will Always Love You” as made famous by Whitney? Dolly’s own version makes me cry, she and Whitney are totally different kinds of singers but Dolly certainly knows exactly how to use her instrument. (And she plays something like 19 different instruments.) She really is the definition of a living legend. And she came from NOTHING. Appalachian girl from abject poverty, with more talent in the tip of her pinky finger than most human beings on the planet of all time. My queen.

Dolly Parton is a wonderful performer and always says things "with authority". Not only is she 79, she put out her first rock and roll album "Rockstar" at age 77. More than that though was that word - philanthropist. Flags will go down to half mast across TN and the Southeastern US when she passes, because she has used her money to fund everything from children's literacy (sending free books to kids) to funds for victims of wildfire to donating a million dollars to fund initial COVID-19 vaccine research. The woman is big-hearted and a damn saint. Listen to more of her work; she is 100% worth your time.

Y'all need to add '9 to 5' to your movie watch list. Dolly is a fantastic actress (she is also in 'Steel Magnolias'). It is hilarious and was groundbreaking in terms of feminism and empowerment in 1980! Also, Dolly is Miley Cyrus' goddaughter and Dolly dueted with Sabrina on a later version of 'Please Please Please' (including her in the second music video for that song).

Kaniyia caught the yodel -- you guys should check out Dolly's version of Mule Skinner Blues (Blue Yodel No. 8). It's a cover of an older country song and it earned her a Grammy nom in 1970. It was one of her earliest hits and helped propel her to fame. No music video but there is video on YT of her singing it live on the Porter Wagoner Show. Definitely worth the listen!
