Ok... I was screaming at my screen. Here's what's happening: Reba, the wife, singing the first verse. Linda, the girlfriend, singing the second verse. The chorus is sung together. Linda is doing the callbacks to Reba in the chorus. If you pay really close attention, Reba's voice is a little bit deeper and she has more of a twang to it than Linda does. If you watch the music video, it will make a lot more sense for sure.

I always felt Linda's version was more when the wife and other woman find out about one Another and are sort of going back and forth at each other, and Dolly's version is more they're BOTH over his ass. 🤣

Fun back story: Linda Davis wasn’t famous at the time. She was singing demos. Reba heard her demo of this and had to have her for the actual. They performed it on an awards show when no one knew the song and no one knew of Linda Davis. Overnight she was a household name. She killed that.

MORE EVANESCENCE!! Always. My fave thing is watching people hear Call Me When You’re Sober for the first time, or really any of Fallen or The Open Door. Amy had me scream-singing and crying at 2am while driving the PCH and feeling my emotions too much 😂 And yes, the video is a nod to Little Red Riding Hood, and the guy in the chair at the table is like the big bad wolf she finally confronts and leaves. I used to love watching their making of the videos. Also, backing vocals on the track are Amy Lee’s sisters. I have a singer-songwriter pianist for like every major era of my life. In my teens it was Tori and Sarah McLachlan (highly recommend); in college/early 20s, it was Amy and Alicia Keys; grad school through really adulting, it’s been Taylor. Also, fuck the haters! I don’t get it, honestly. I feel like, other than a few songs, Evanescence was kind of niche in rock because it’s like gothic rock. You do not get an operatic singer who plays piano and writes with a full on rock band together very often or successfully. And with the drama they went through early on, it’s not surprising a lot of people never heard of them.

Kinda late to the comments haha! As an OG Evanescence fan, I can tell you the hate is nothing new. Amy Lee is often cited as a first in mainstream hard rock/metal music and many people thought Evanescence was waaaaay overplayed. Other female-fronted groups (Kittie, Lacuna Coil, Halestorm, Flyleaf, Nightwish, and soooo many more) were denied radio airtime because stations were already playing a "girl singer" 🤬. So when Evanescence had some drama, Amy Lee (the only woman in the band) became an easy target for all the rumors, and the blame, and the hate. While lies about Amy Lee turned into hot gossip and "true" drama, Evanescence struggled to recreate the success of their first two albums. Amy Lee STILL gets all the hate and the blame for all of it, including a ton of shit that never happened (just Google "why does everyone hate Amy Lee" and you'll see how bad it still is). It's tragic that the late 90s/ early 00s were so cruel to women in the industry, but Amy Lee is a BADASS and always will be. ❤️ 🤘 Yall ignore all the haters and keep enjoying great music!!! MMMF!!!
