This is not spoiler. Just an explanation that isnt clearly explained in the anime. To help explain the ability, basically what the Five Elders were saying is that his power is only limited by his imagination. Thats the reason why he can create gears to begin with. If he imagines something he can alter his surroundings to make whatever he imagines happen (like the ground or lightning becoming rubber). And his surroundings also naturally become affected like you were saying (which is why everyone's eyes actually pop out when he is around). He basically goes by Tom & Jerry logic.

Great reaction as always. That Destroyer of Death Thunder Bagua attack from kaido and his speech about haki is awesome. I don't know if you realized it, but luffy actually had to defend that attack.

Man this gear is just insane I am just trying to get use to it since a lot of the scenes when Luffy gets hit it looks like it doesn't even damage him at all since everythings turning rubber lol

Fully Mastering Haki trumps all but if your someone that Master both Haki all 3 form and your devil fruit then your the GOAT. Better than rogers. Even gear 5th luffy at this point, he still have not master all of his haki yet and his devil fruit . There is still more to it!!
