Yeah, the mood change at this point in the story occurred in the novels as well. Quite a shock if you're not expecting it, ha!

On Miledi's Labyrinth: it's actually quite the interesting design. It's a massive clockwork maze that changes rooms and doors around, and is absolutely packed full of traps. The show skimmed through pretty fast, but the silly traps and annoying running commentary? Imagine that ongoing for days. You may be traveling along and hit the wrong thing - bam! Back to the entrance; time to start over. And it's all built in the Reisen Gorge, a canyon that is basically anti-magic. While it seems silly and joking, the purpose is deliberately designed to be as annoying as possible. It's meant to drive you crazy or into a rage so you're not thinking clearly and fall into even more traps. This is meant to teach you to keep a level head despite anything that may be thrown at you. (Darn it Patreon, how am I supposed to line-break paragraphs on mobile? Argh!)
