WAR GAMES!! On this edition of Watch This, the boys venture back to 1991 for a big WAR GAMES match.

It's three members of the Four Horsemen (Ric Flair, Barry Windham, and Sid Vicious) teaming up with Larry Zbyszko, taking on the stacked team of Sting, Brian Pillman, and The Steiner Brothers. There is a damn ceiling on this cage, there is pyro, there is a cool ass stage, and there is BLOOD!! What more could you ask for?!

30 mins of the boys let’s go

Oscar Gutierrez

I literally said out loud at work when I got the notification, " oh shit they're doing 91 WarGames??, the boys are gonna DIEE"

:D

yippee!

Daniel Reyes

Just have to say I’m enjoying this trip back in time. I’m the same I really don’t watch old school stuff but these episodes of watch this make me want more. Thank you boys!

JackRyanForPope

WARGAMES! Haven't even hit play and I know this is gonna rock, thanks! I have since watched the match; HOLY SHIT. Rick Steiner always did have a thick skull, huh?

BigJ

Real graps

Drew115

This gets Brian Pillman so over as a babyface for me.

FalconX9K

It probably makes sense to get the better workers in the match early so they're in the ring longer

TrshBandicoot

got dropped on that stack of dimes he calls a neck

Chase The Dream Richardson

the boys getting into old school wrestling wrestling is one of my favourite developments. nastys vs. steiners when?

Pat_Mashants

Love watching Old School stuff I've never seen, with the boys.

gwar 666

This match fucking rules

Jay Carter

the parlay odds for that being the ending would've been nuts

Ron

I started watching wrestling in 96 so hearing JR dong WCW commentary and Schiavone doing the ring announcing feels weird. This makes me want to watch more War Games, I went to check and see if Macho Man was ever in one, he was but it's with the freaking Dungeon of Doom....

KODIAK

THERE’S NEVER BEEN A WHAT IN THE FOUR HORSEMAN??

ThiccFlair

Really loving all the older stuff for Watch This as someone whose been digging further into 70s-early 90s stuff i've passed over in the past

Jack Kinghoff

“Giant Gonzalez is in the Four Horsemen??” - Toby with the quote of the year

CJExtreme98

This was the first war games match for me. I remember my dad tryna get me to watch it and thought it would suck cause of the fed telling me how bad WCW was

Charlie shaw

Now we need the War Games where Colonel Parker shits himself

Badnewsbrown202

I’m in my mid 40’s and I grew up with this era of WCW. I’m so glad you guys are enjoying these old school matches.

Fat Ryback

This show also had Big Van Vader vs. Stan Hansen ending in a double disqualification. That had to be a slugfest.

Naveth

The boys watching wcw wargames is always good shit

Mah-Dry-Bread

Man I love that you guys are getting into older stuff! I've been real into 80's and early 90's stuff for a long time but this era of WCW is a blind spot for me, so getting to watch it with you guys is just the best

Marathon train by day, Deadlock podcast by night! All day!

I love this match. Very glad you watched it. It's crazy to think that the 92 one is arguably even better. Also I can't stand when people do war games and give the faces the advantage. TNA did it a few times and WWE does it every year it feels. It's so backwards. This is the easiest shit to book. Heels get the advantage until the face makes the save. repeat.

Przemek Barwik

Didn't Pillman really got fucked by Sid here?

Roose

great wargames, i think 92 wargames is even better. if you dont "get" Sting after that I dont know what to tell you

Armando J. Mendoza

That was awesome! I had no idea El Gigante was the first member of the penis exploding machine club! Makes sense now.

FUCK THE TAR HEELS FUCK THE NITTANY LIONS GO VOLS

I'd love to see a Watch This! of Jade vs Rosemary Six Sides of Steel. I recently have done a deep dive into Rosemary after watching some old DPW and have really fallen in love with her as a worker.

BigJ

Need some more old-school Stinger matches. Maybe one of his battles with Vader?

Lee Flanagan

How good was this so simple but wow genuinely lowkey shits on recent war games matches don't get me wrong roh 2006 rules on watch this but wow looking back at this its actually so enjoyable can someone explain why hahah well apart from the fact that dusty and JR on commentary fucking rule every move is like woaaah

Oscar Gutierrez

I've had a thought recently about how his E run could've went if HHH was in charge then. Maybe better?

JP Tuesday

The issue is WWE does two War Games matches in one night. It would be sus if both matches had the heel team get the advantage. They need to just do one.

JP Tuesday

I'm old. I saw this show live on PPV. It's definitely peak of pre-Hogan, pre-nWo WCW. I'd love to see you guys watch more of this era.

Real North Carolina judge Dick Boner

It's because they can bleed. Modern War Games matches try to overcorrect the lack of blood with weapons and choreographed spots but it just makes it a boring plunder brawl. That and they've repeated Io Shirai doing the Great Sasuke spot for like five years running.

Cad Chamberlain

The difference, besides blood and safety concerns, is that WCW and WWE have wildly different definitions of cagematches. WCW used cage matches as a 'nobody can escape, they must settle this' type match. WWE for some reason uses them as a 'what if you just take the roof off and climb out' match, which defeats the purpose of the cage.

Clinton Mac

No, let Jawnny cook. I think War Games would be more entertaining if they just released bees into the cage.

OH MY! DIPPERS OF THE HOG UNITE!

Watching Sid bugged eyed asking Rick Stiener if he was ok after going headfirst into the cage was honestly wholesome as shit lol

scottelot

I'm like the boys where I didn't really think I'd be into the older stuff either, but there's so many 'smart' spots in this and some of the other matches on Watch This we've seen that are just lost now that I love. It's such a good indicator of just how much wrestling has evolved/changed over the years and what's done differently.

VacuumWhistler

I hope Sting beat Larry's ass for real after he NO SOLD the running double top rope line. THAT WAS INSANE

Cali Jester

Yeah, this match fucks on another wavelength.

Adam Pyle

Watch war games 1992

Andrew Carnborn

That first fucking Syd Powerbomb to Pillman was HEINOUS

Dave K

I cant believe Larry does the fucking headstand sell on the Sting diving shoulderblock between the rings. I didnt know Larry had it like *that*

VacuumWhistler

The foreshadowing from James when he saw Pillman wrapped up at the beginning of the video "Oh he's hurt!" Not yet brother, but he will be.

VacuumWhistler

OMG and then immediately after saying "I love that this has a ceiling." "And I love that its low." LMFAO

VacuumWhistler

Two minutes in and Barry's bleeding. THIS SHIT MEANS SOMETHING TO ME MAN

VacuumWhistler

WHAT WAS THAT SPOT THROWING BARRY INTO THE SECOND RING. These guys are fucking WORKING

VacuumWhistler

I feel like Flair in second was perfect booking. He's the marathon man, he's going to keep this match GOING. I'd want him in as long as possible because he'll sell the fuck out of all the boys.

VacuumWhistler

THE RECEIPT FOR THE THAT SECOND RING THROW

VacuumWhistler

I'm still fuckin hot over Larry no-selling Sting, what a fucking scummer.

VacuumWhistler

That first head into the cage was SO INSANE

VacuumWhistler

Rick No selling and popping larry every time is that receipt for sting. Steiners are so based.

VacuumWhistler

And Larry took the tiger bomb, alright. We cool

VacuumWhistler

That first ganso bomb would have gone HARD in japan
