"We got any birthday cake left?"

We are two (2) days removed from one of WCW's most unique PPV events, Hog Wild 1996, and history was changed forever. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan defeated The Giant to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, before spray-painting the title with 'NWO', one of the most iconic looks for a championship ever. This episode of WCW Monday Nitro took place on August 12th, 1996, and we're looking at the fall-out from that very PPV. The WCW management & wrestlers are all trying to figure out how to combat the trio of Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash & Scott Hall, while being aware of the threat of more members joining, as is teased by the members of the New World Order throughout the show. Sting & Lex Luger, who had a controversial loss to The Outsiders at Hog Wild due to potential shenanigans involving referee Nick Patrick, call out Kevin Nash & Scott Hall for a match on this show. Speaking of controversial losses, The Steiner Brothers are here for a return match against Harlem Heat, who beat them at Hog Wild in a Tag Team Championship match after some interference from bother Sister Sherri & Colonel Parker. Also in a return match, Rey Mysterio Jr defends the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against The Ultimate Dragon (not Ultimo!).We also get a huge WCW United States Championship match, as Ric Flair takes on "Macho Man" Randy Savage. All of that, and so much more, on this edition of the DEADLOCK Podcast!

You think Mark Canterbury was mad that they named the show Hog Wild and he was Hog in the WWF? I’d be pissed off lowkey

Kane Bluey

I'll take this as my sign to pick my WCW watch through back up, since I stopped at this episode for some reason and it's been like a year and a half since then

bonerific

shoutout bootyman

Look At Our Girl Aria Bringing Out The Pies!

Oddly, they don't use the nWo theme on this particular episode, but they did debut it at Hog Wild. The Outsiders used it first, then Hogan in the main event. Hogan used it at that point on till he switched to Voodoo Child.

Anthony Davis

If Goldust was WWF champion at the time, WCW would’ve been out of business. And we could’ve had the big Gold one defend the title against some jabroni name Steve and some mark name………Dwayne the cock Johnson

Scottishness

You got like 5 permanent injuries you need to rehab. Goldust didn’t need to be the champion to put WCW out of business, he just had to be on WCW as Dustin

Mack

I’M AFRAID I’VE GOT SOME BAD NEWS They turned that damn Kmart into a target

Baker

I've heard that song. It's a forgotten Kyle Anthem

jibwa

That logo... doesn't work for me, brother.

Nathan Pierce

I have Fever for the Flava stuck in my head all the time and always forgot that’s what it was called. It was in like every dude’s movie and video game from 2002-2005

The Hogan Terminator shirt needs to be new deadlock merch, brother

polo bear

Unrelated to WCW but related to something said on the pod, Takao Omori and Yoshihiro Takayama’s team was called No Fear and they even have the No Fear shirts (with the eyebrow) in VPW2

Nick Cumberbatch

The whole time I was watching James fan swinging back and forth 😂

Rocko Bamonti

I remember this Nitro like it was yesterday! I was 12! I never realized Ryback was in so much of the intro to Nitro! 🤣🤣🤣

Rocko Bamonti

The Excellence of Execution Jimmy Hart 😂😂😂

Hobo Joe

Listening to this with a bruised rib that makes it hurt to laugh wasn’t the smartest choice but fuck it was worth it

Gerard Smith

Fun fact Madusa attacking the Japanese bike at Hog Wild did effectively zero damage to it. She was bashing the hell out of it with a sledgehammer and didn't even crack a side panel. In classic WCW manner no one thought to check if it was actually possible to destroy the bike with a sledgehammer.
