"But my name's Billy..."

After having such a good time reviewing WWF Heat recently, we decided to jump back in for one of the more infamous moments in the history of this show. A moment that we didn't even realize took place on Heat! On July 11th, 1999, The Rock showed up on Heat to deliver a promo that would change the course of Billy Gunn's career, and is still talked about to this day."Mr. Ass" Billy Gunn has been attacking The Rock over the past few weeks, and The Rock finally has something to say about it here on The Rock's Show, Heat!Of course, there is a lot more going on somehow. We're on the road to WWF Fully Loaded, and The Big Show has drawn some attention from a lot of the boys in the back. More specifically, The Undertaker & his brother Kane have seemingly re-united to take down the big man, and he's here tonight to put a stop to it. He even debuts a new catchphrase! Also on this show, The Brood are looking to get back to their winning ways as Edge, Gangrel & Christian take on three members of The Corporate Ministry in Big Bossman, Viscera, & Mideon. The Brood cut another fantastic promo, but at the end of this one, The Brood seemingly is no more, as Gangrel turns his back on Edge.We can't forget about all the HUGE matches on this show, as well. The Hardy Boyz defend their WWF Tag Team Championships against Droz & Prince Albert. Billy Gunn (Mr. Ass) goes one-on-one with Test, while Shane McMahon & The Mean Street Posse watch from commentary. No one wants to wrestle Al Snow, so he comes up with his own match against WWF Super Astros best in Max Mini, Mini Nova, Battalion, & El Torito. Our big main event is a NO HOLDS BARRED match with Bradshaw, who has a concussion, and Kane! All of that, and so much more, on this edition of the DEADLOCK Podcast!

Revisiting WWF Heat 1999 - The Rock's Infamous Promo On Billy Gunn

The boys are back in town :)

SpacemanSaturn

Just got the notification as the last minute of last week's show played. Didn't even have to think what to listen to next. LETS FUCKING GO DEADLOCK

polo bear

Smacking it so Raw (last episode) that you need a little HeAT is crazy but I get it

Hobo Joe

With EVERYBODY saying: My. Name. Is. Kane. YEAAAAH

Ham B No

…..and Christians here 😁

Rocko Bamonti

That Brood interview is the funniest thing ever. 🤣 I saw The Haunting in theaters with my buddy when I was 13! It absolutely sucks

Richard Ives

What happened to the Q&A segment?

jibwa

BOB? but my name's Billy- IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR NAME IS

Real North Carolina judge Dick Boner

The Haunting was one of a few remakes of William Castle’s 1960s horror movies that came out during the late 90s. The Haunting sucked, but Thirteen Ghosts kicks all sorts of ass. All the ghosts were cool as fuck and Matthew Lillard was super fun.

Two-Tone MoonStone

So for context, The Haunting (63) is effectively what A24 is known for today. Very cerebral and uses the idea of a haunting as a metaphor. The Haunting (99) strips all of that away and plays the idea completely straight. It’s butt cheeks.

FalconX9K

The Hardys' Brood voices would just be Broken Matt and Brother Nero if you think about it

FalconX9K

I'm pretty sure this was the first time The Rock used the "IT DOESN'T MATTER..." line

Cole

Gangrel owns the trademark to his name now. Fuck white wolf.

Please review Raw dec 4th 2006 with John Cena defends the wwe title in the masterlock challenge

Joseph Czarniecki

So Pacific Blue was a Baywatch knockoff. Triple H plays a heavy for a pedo guy. He is the diddler defender in that episode.

CJExtreme98

I don’t know if y’all reviewed it yet. But there’s a WCW episode the next week after Goldberg’s funeral. It happens on a Tuesday. You guys mentioned it but I don’t remember any pods for it. Perhaps you could check that one out some time soon.

James teacher was Heisenberg, that wasn’t candy…it was meth. Show this comment to all your friends with zero context.

Can I nominate Bradshaw, Farooq and Mideon vs The Brood from Backlash 99 for Watch This!?
