"More Tazz Victims!"

On October 1st, 2000, Sunday Night Heat changed networks, as the WWF moved the show from the USA Network to MTV! You know when you're debuting on a new network, you have to bring it, and...they definitely brought a lot here. The synergy between WWF & MTV immediately begins here, as we're introduced to two of the hosts of the show: DJ Skribble & Rebecca Buding! Their microphones don't work too great, but thankfully, Michael Cole & Tazz's mics work just fine. This is the first part-time gig for Tazz on commentary, and it seems like he's trying something new. For the entire episode. Non-stop. We're promised some big matches here, including two title matches & a tables match! Dean Malenko, with the ladies, defends the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship against Taka Michinoku., and Eddie Guerrero defends the WWF Intercontinental Championship against Road Dogg. In our main event, we have a Tag Team Tables match between The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray & D-Von Dudley) and the Right To Censor (The Goodfather & Bull Buchanan). We're also joined by Stone Cold Steve Austin, who just happened to be in the neighborhood, and he wanted to see Disturbed play some loud music, so they do! Disturbed perform their Top-10 hit "Stupify", before Stone Cold tells them they should also play his theme song! Tazz has a lot to say about Stone Cold being here, on Tazz's show, and Austin confronts him about it by the end of the night. All of that, and so much more, on this edition of the DEADLOCK Podcast!

John Nickell

Hahahaha- I’m tazz all night.

Logan Vetter

Tazz is so infectious on the mic I'm yelling JUST ANOTHER VICTIM after every bite of my Culver's tenders and fries but I digress.

KangOfTheBigSandwich

The debut of the Heat theme that, much like the Raw and SmackDown themes then, made no fucking sense and were the coolest

Aaron Knight

DJ Scribble is way out of his element here lol

The SkeeWoah-ism

Sick, I just finished watching it. Gotta be a all timer commentary day for Tazz. The censoring on Disturbed performances were also funny.

FalconX9K

Wasn't there an Observer report Johnny read at one point that said something like Johnny Ace wanted Taz to have a schoolyard bully gimmick where he would talk a bunch of shit but got his ass kicked whenever someone confronted him? Taz on this show feels like the realization of that idea.

Logan Vetter

Looking at the little bag of cheese curds like SURVIVE IF I LET YOU HaHaHa but I digress.

Brick the Block Johnson

I definitely remember this version of Tazz with 2 Zs very well because of how annoying it was. This pod makes me appreciate it though. That mf definitely needed a sandwich

Angel

DJ Scribble was most well known for hosting the MTV Spring Break specials. Hearing him talk about Stevie Richards is not only something I forgot but it tickles me so much as a kid who was watching this at the time.

Wreck Tootle

Taz laugh haunted my dreams for a week after watching the episode

Wreck Tootle

WHERE is the Deadlock Gong™️

Hello, Table for a Mr Bob Tistabaum

The boys talking about people living through Heat gave me Vietnam flashbacks to following 2010-2012 WWE almost entirely through Experience on Sky 1, how I've remained a fan after that shit is one of life's great mysteries.

Tyler Race

Tazz was absolutely unhinged during this entire episode lol

Keverage Beverage

Idk where to put official watch suggestions but on the Jan 25 1999 episode of Raw, Cole refers to the toilet as the “commode”

Jordan Ferris

I hope we're not retconning the Deadlock Gong

WI Whiskey

It's unfortunate that David Drainman sucks now.... Disturbed is awesome.

Anthony Davis

I think either on YouTube or maybe on a app, they have the whole collection of Sunday night heat episodes from start to finish. I remember watching Heat, but mostly I watch it when it’s a ppv night and I get to see how the stage design look. But I’m curious to see if Deadlock will watch the final episode of Sunday night heat because the main event of that show was……well……🧐🧐🧐🥱🥱🥱😴😴😴😴😴🫩🫩🫩😳😳😳🥱🥱😒😒😒

Anthony Davis

I also wanted to mention that around like 2002, Raven was on Heat and had creative control on the show, mostly because all the head writers and Vince was focused on Raw and didn’t care about what guys did on the show. This was the start of Raven doing a new “deadly sins” type of gimmick. It was hot at the time

Rocko Bamonti

I just listened to this episode for the second time. You boys bring me so much joy every week. Thanks for another great episode

Scootr

Yo the pizzazz was sick ill always remember going to a fishing lodge deep in Canada and when we started the pizzazz it made the lights flicker in the whole area. Absolute GOAT of frozen pizza tech
