around the 56 minute mark you talk about Macron putting in place his national service thing (he calls it the SNU - Service National Universel -ew gross), they did trials last year and basically it ended in a bunch of kids having heat strokes with the people in charge saying they just collapsed due to the emotion involved with singing the marseillaise. from what i gathered the government wants to slowly phase it in to eventually force every 16 year old to do one month of wearing a cop uniform, saluting the flag, and letting the president grill for god's sake. The thing is that the full phase-in date is 2024, which would be after the next elections, and also neither the army nor the Éducation Nationale want to deal with paying for and managing a nationalist summer camp every year.
