Callum Cant from Autonomy and Fairwork joins the gang for Part 2 of AI Week, where we go in depth about what the fair introduction of AI to workplaces might look like. Fairwork is starting the research process to answer this question, and we’re looking at what they intend to achieve and what the answers may be. Here’s a hint: it starts with an “O” and rhymes with an “Blorganised Labour.”

"that's what you get for lbw" LMAO

the Sokal Affair, that's what I had on the tip of my tongue. Yeah, it's settled fact that you can generate a bunch of spam and have it taken seriously even without the aid of deep learning models. I guess in a roundabout way that's cause for hope

I welcome trashbot 3000 and the content it's making after drinking from the AI puddle. (think Asterix and Obelix but instead of an invincibility potion is an AI puddle)

Alice’s remark on the Machine God is regrettably spot on. Because these AI models are the result of rolling the dice a gazillion times and encouraging more dice rolls towards 6 (reproducing author-desired behaviours/images/text etc.). When you get fired by the racism machine boss the technical explanation is and always will be ”the model is preconfigured with a dice roll against you”. So in the end we chose the WH40k timeline: prompt engineers are tech priests, and the only way to use any technology is just praying to this dice roll Machine God to do something and sometimes it works. No one knows why.

country's gone to shit ever since they outsourced Landmine Steve to China, I tell you what. And don't even get me started on ISIS

Oliver Cant

My surname is so rare, it's genuinely weird when I finally come across another Cant out in the wild.

I was in university with a guy from Bayonne, NJ. At the time, I remember him saying it had the dubious distinction of having the greatest concentration of chromium refining waste dumps of any inhabited area of the East Coast, possibly the entire US

Shit unlock this episode so I can share it with my co workers. The last 40 minutes describe my entire industry.
