It's the free one!

We brought on friend of the show and extremely good cartoonist Mattie Lubchansky (@lubchansky) to discuss their new book BOYS WEEKEND. They wanted to register a website for the book at boysweekend.com, but it’s been parked on by a group of guys who’ve been having boys’ weekends since 2000. And posting about it on a very web 1.0 site. So, cleary we had to talk about it, as well as more AI-related news, and much more.

Check out the actual site for BOYS WEEKEND here, and preorder a copy: www.boysweekend.biz

Web 3.0 was a mistake, but Web 1.0 was wild man. Them gifs, frames and static pages. And the Terribad tiled backgrounds. Ugh.

I can't wait to listen to this again tomorrow

Technically, you were right when you said there was a Persona game with a murder mystery and a weird bear 😅

Quite relevant the moment this episode came out, the WatchMeForever Twitch stream of AI generated Seinfeld got a 2 week ban after Jerry dropped a transphobic "joke". This happened as the OpenAI's GPT-3 Davinci model was offline so they switched to a stupider worse model Curie, the predecessor for Davinci, which ended up churning out Seinfeld (offensive)

Listening to Alice trying to remember Danganronpa makes me understand something less than good about myself. That said, given that baby knives are now a thing, I really want to hear this particular configuration of the podcast talking about truth bullets. *edit* getting called out for being that guy yelling "Danganronpa" at the podcast now. Definitely rude.

If every episode is gonna start with that it's the free one nonsense, I just feel that every episode should end with a laugh from Alice to make up for it. So wholesome

Worst part of having all the cops on the platforms, besides all the cops on the platforms, is the fucking MTA announcement at any major stop saying "If you need any sort of assistance, the NYPD is here to help". Gotta love a mayor that cuts social spending and then says "go to these infinitely more expensive, untrained, armed social-worker-standins if you're having a rough time"

Ah yes the dilbert guy, Eric Adams

There is actually a company that will handle customer service lines for you. They call themselves Karens for Sale. Which seems like a significant failure in naming when Karen as a Service was available.

For some reason the idea of Jean-Luc du Bastard feeling comfortable posting pictures of him et les mecs in blackface on a public website for years but then suddenly panicking when Matty sends some New Yorkers that way is very funny to me. This is after another fine Quebecois (Justin Trudeau) defeated the Hanglish [sic] and their blackface mores too!

Very nice to get a shout out on my favourite podcast (I'm the guy who was shouting DanganRompa when Alice forgot the name)

belethor's general goods is finally getting the recognition it deserves

Adam's just replacing all the manhole covers in Manhattan with platinum coins, great episode I needed the laugh today!

Riley kinda forgot at the end to mention the intro/outro tune is Herewego by Jinsiang. And he mentioned giving more crédito to this jingle being his new years resolution. I'm 80% sad and 21 % disappointed. Sad moan dot wav dot exe

This episode reminded me of a guy I knew in high school who has the same initials as Milo and used to get repeatedly told off by teachers for writing his initials on his worksheets and leaving them to work out who had written “ME” on their homework

am I the only one getting this warm blissful feeling from how fast BoysWeekend (the 1.0 site) is loading? I half expected it to be crashed from all the new traffic, but you just click and it's there! The whole page! God, the Internet used to be good.

a Stable Diffusion AI NPC who develops Main Character Syndrome in a elderly de-boredom VR program would be a fantastic premise for a scifi short

I know I've watched a film titled "Where The Boys Aren't "

Alan Ma

weekends are for the boys
