Technically not "banned" in germany, just not allowed to be shown on STEAM. I´ve been talking with the devs and surfaced some solutions to them that we are aiming to use for OUR steam release in germany :D

At the time only option is to try and reach out to the devs. I did surface some solutions to them in recent conversations that we have planned for our own 1.0 release :3 :3

If only StudioFOW would finally get their shit together and request a USK rating for Germany now that would be fucking swell :)

Our head of production is german himself and is owning a steam copy of Subverse :3 There are plenty of ways around that problem. The issue is NOT StudioFOW, it lies with Steam not understanding that USK is exclusive for content that requires an AGE RATING. ADULT ONLY content does not require an Age Rating and is NOT reviewed by the USK. Meaning you technically can sell it, but you have to use an Age Verification Method in line with german law for adult only content and back when steam made the calls that they made, they simply didnt want to do THAT. I already made a few proposals to our friends over at StudioFOW about this and who knows ... maybe you´ll see another post about this soon-ish xD

If that is true they could just request a 18+ rating like other titles that I can buy here. A dev friend show me the process for one of his games and it seemed terribly simple but perhaps there's some difference we both don't know about. Thank you for the reply, it's an insanely frustrating situation to be in.

Again, you can not "request" a 18+ Rating in germany. You are still thinking in "USK" terms, which is not the same. USK 18+ is still a Age Rating. The way you can sell any adult only product in germany is if you use something like go.cam to age verify your customer. Thats all you need xD That said its pretty simple to find out for a german how this works, but I´d say its a fair bit harder to figure that shit out if you cant just call the USK to figure that shit out in realtime xD If you check subverses twitter there is a new tweet just now about their plans for germany and co btw :* <3

Anything that does NOT have a USK age rating BY DEFAULT is called "Ohne Altersfreigabe". Just to add some more context :D

I see. I did mean the Steam process though. It's just an options menu where you select your expected rating and explain the content of your game. The rest is done by Valve apparentely. Sadly I don't use Twitter but I'll try to get that info anyways. Thank you for the update and good luck with your own release plans! Edit: Got the tweet and it's just getting more and more confusing haha oh well.

I have the same issue with Subverse in Australia but it wasn't always the case cause I brought the base game when it came out and now can't buy the DLC off Steam

Was bitte? :D USK ist in Deutschland nur für die Altersfreigabe von Spielen zuständig die and Minderjährige verkauft werden sollen. Alles andere (Porn Games) darf unter "Ohne Altersfreigabe" legal verkauft werden, solange der Content legal ist und korrekt Altersnachweiße geprüft werden.

Steam hat nur keine Altersverifizierung eingeführt und deswegen Porn Games in Deutschland vom verkauf ausgeschlossen. Wäre ziemlich easy das zu fixen wenn die bei Steam sich mal https://go.cam/ anschauen würden.

Sadly not heard from our friends over at Subverse in a little bit myself, so hard to give you a clear answer :( I´m wishing the Subverse team the best with releasing their game/dlc in the ... harder to access regions of the world <3 <3
