So the game is growing large. The latest beta has both the MAC and PC version at over 1.5 GB each. Which isn't a problem for me, but I know is an issue for many people, especially when downloading from places like MEGA with download caps. Downloading 1.5+GB for each update is starting to become and issue.

So my solution? Chapter 2 of Lunar's Chosen.

What this would mean is all current storylines, replays, images, etc. would be removed from the game and Chapter 2 would continue as if you had completed everything that was available in Chapter 1.

No content would be cut or removed from Chapter 1, so if you wanted to replay any of that, you could, but it would save downloading a bunch of data you don't really need if you just wanted to play new content.

So, should I split the game into two chapters to save game size and download space?

If you vote no, please state why in the comments, I'd be interested in hearing peoples reasons as I can't see any real downsides.

As this isn't really a content poll, I've opened it up to $5 patrons too as I'd like more people to vote.

I don’t know.. I mean how would chapter 2 remember previous choices, the current income we’re making photo shoots we unlocked, items we’ve purchased etc, there’s a lot of successful vns over 1.5 gb I personally don’t think it’s too much but hey that’s what the polls for 😄

No, that's just pointless hassle and complication. Doesn't even work properly with a sandbox game as you might do different girl's stories at different times. You'd be better off making upgrade downloads that only contain the scripts and new images for people with crappy internet.

Personally I’d rather have it all in one game, if I want to replay scenes, having them all in the same game makes it easier.

Just change downloading servers. Mega is trash to begin with.

Id agree keeping it as one download, there are plenty if dev's games that are 3.5gb up to 6.7gb.

it would make no sense to just cut it like that, and i love going back and watching all the stuff thats happened if a second is made instead of just expanding the first that's just going to add to the space on your PC anyways just keep it as is

to be honest, i could go either way there are advantages to either approach. the Episodic one often results in fewer bugs and if done right better story pacing. It also allows easier ways to fix bugs as they can be isolated over to the new episode. It also makes playthrough of new content easier to get through for testing. Having it all in one is nice for the end user for all of the previously stated reasons. But also keep in mind that one of the MAJOR disadvantages to a large game file is that download sites may require compression or the game to be broken into parts to be able to download anyway. but ultimately its a creative choice. My one request is just not to leave us hanging too much at the end of an episode.

Also Just a thought. Games like Treasure of Nadia and The Spellbook have update features built in that will download the changes automatically. Not sure how easy that is but it could be an an alternative option.
