Peter Ho (Duke of Wei) is an amazing actor, however I have only seen him in somewhat villainous roles, which made me instantly afraid that his character would be the same in this one too. Duke of Wei as a character gives a very positive vibe, like he really is a loving father and all he cares about is just to make sure his precious daughter gets all the best and is happy. But you saying that Peter Ho played a nice character somewhere gives me hope he doesn't play only villains/antagonists. As for our couples: Watching Lin and Cui was a complete blast! I somehow had thought that maybe she understood before that he suspects/knows that she is not a man after all, but apparently not. But what she told him really proves what I was already thinking — she tried to avoid all his attention before because she has to be a man, the heir of Marquis Shunan. Also, XiHe and HuaYong maybe won't break off their engagement after all, she didn't look in such a hurry about that anymore. But ofc, we'll see when the Duke of Wei goes away. And your theory about HuaYong not being the Emperor's son is quite wild, yet actually plausible. And now I am not sure what to think about who might have been the poisoner. Duke of Ying said the poison was for the Emperor to avenge him betraying his brother. I also thought that was one of the possibilities. I guess I need to learn a bit more about those past events to confirm what I already have theorised or to form a new theory. At the moment, I am kind of in between, but still leaning towards the idea that Noble Consort Rong might have been a part of it. And especially now that, as I understand it, she was the sister of the Duke of Ying.
