Online there is a lot of discourse going on about the show, so I wanted to check with you all and see what are your thoughts so far? Are you enjoying it? Is it living up to the hype? Is it disappointing? Is it bad? I would love to hear all your thoughts down below! This is a safe place so do not worry about being attacked due to your opinion haha.

I personally haven't started watching it yet. Firstly, because I want to wrap up some of my already started shows before starting something new, and secondly, I am hesitating to even check out episode 1 because of all the comments there are. I will wait a little while to see what the opinions are as the show progresses, and then decide if it's worth my time. In June, I watched Wang Churan and Tan Jianci's drama Love Has Fireworks, and it also had a lot of negativity directed its way — about the editing, the plot, the acting, and the AI (because one of the characters had an AI face swap due to some issues between the actors). That drama was okay-ish, but nothing I would want to recommend to anyone. So, my point is — I personally will wait on this one and then decide.

I absolutely love Susu’s pink cheongsam outfit, she has such an amazing figure 😍😍😍😍. Cheongsams in China’s Republican‑era dramas are just incredibly beautiful. By the way, we still haven’t fully seen all the hardships the female lead went through at the orphanage. I’m really curious about her revenge plan. The plot is so gripping! I especially loved the forced kiss and the apron‑tying scene. I can’t wait for the upcoming episodes and wonder what will happen next!

I haven’t watched your reaction to it yet but I watched 3 episodes and the directing is…interesting lol…tbh i expected a higher budget maybe bc Zhang Linghe is in it but it’s giving short vertical cdrama rn lmao, I think I will probably put it on hold for now and finish some of the other ongoing dramas and then maybe come back to it once it’s done

Omg yeah Love Has Fireworks was kind of a bizarre watch bc the AI was so obvious that I couldn’t focus on anything else 😭

I genuinely enjoy every drama for what it brings. Every series gives me the chance to appreciate the actors' range and how they bring different characters to life. Of course, when the cast is also incredibly attractive like ZLH that's a nice bonus, but it's never the reason I watch. What matters most to me is whether the story keeps me engaged. I notice the hard work from everyone involved, both on and off screen, to create something the audience can enjoy. If a drama makes me laugh, cry, get frustrated, or smile, then it has done exactly what entertainment is meant to do. That's how I approach every drama I watch. Instead of focusing on what it *should* have been, I choose to appreciate what it is and simply enjoy my spare time. I’m hooked with Overdo 🤲🏼

the cinematography is honestly killing me esp since im watching blossoms of power which is rly aesthetic in every angle… those rly weird zoom in and zoom out shots are also not helping things 😭 but im trying to hang on for linghe and churan

This was far below my expectations. The directing and acting both felt very off. The use of AI was also awkward, and the dubbing didn’t match the actors’ lip movements at all. I don’t feel any reason to keep watching.

Where did all that budget go. The camera angles cracked me up. Genuinly thought it was a parody of republic dramas. The acting is off, the dubbing is off, editing is just bad.

My honest opinion is that I went into this series for Zhang Linghe and even he couldn’t stop me for dropping it. Everything seemed off.

Terrible. Just terrible. Not just this show, but most of the airing shows are terrible too. I swear C-dramas these days are made solely for money laundering because I refuse to believe everyone involved actually watched them and said "Yeah, this is good to go"

nuaTN

Honestly, I think it's time for you to start watching some older classics instead lol

Bruno

I confess that the use of AI, the scenes, the budget, and the editing of this drama are hindering my ability to watch it. I dropped it at episode 5 and won't continue watching.

Agree with the majority here—even Zhang Linghe couldn’t save this one. Hopefully his next drama The Road to Glory will be a stronger pick. For now, I’m just patiently waiting for Tian Xiwei’s next two dramas: Genius Girlfriend (coming up soon airing in August) and Where Masks End. If you get a chance, definitely check out the trailer for Where Masks End—it’s already out and looks really promising!

As the drama progresses, I'm enjoying the storyline, and #Zhanglinghe slays as #Murongqingyi. I'm here for it, but that doesn't change the feeling that there was money laundering going on. Also I read the viewership ratings for the 2nd day (eps. 6 and 7) went from 16.4% to 18%, while Love for You 野狗骨头 ✅ - 11.5% / Road to Success 灿如繁星 ✅ - 5% / Blossoms of Power 百花杀 - 14.9% I think amidst the pros and cons, Overdo actually proved its strength through numbers- concrete achievements. Despite criticism of the production's technical aspects, etc.
