I agree with everything you said. This drama was amazing and a masterpiece in its own way! I know many people were quite disappointed with the ending for the Yu family and they said it felt unsatisfactory or too easy on some level. But I disagree. I consider all the endings well-deserved, having that sense of realism to them. Even for Secretary Yu, who died in an accident by his son's hand, making his death kind of poetic in a way, too. My personal rating might be influenced a little by Ding Yuxi and Deng Enxi being part of the cast since they are my favourites, but even without them, I consider this to be the best historical drama I have seen this year (atm BoP is a close second and PoJ is my third, but I know we have plenty more coming in Q4). I rate this at least 9/10.
