Mimi

I totally agree with you that, as viewers, we can see that Wei Rao already has feelings for Lu Zhuo. (I think I’ll call her Wei Rao from now on, since A’Chou was actually her adoptive mother’s own child.) The moment she rushed in to shield him from the beating made those feelings especially clear. That was her heart speaking before she had time to think. But when she returns to her more “rational” self, I think her confession that she has been using him all along is sincere too. Even the anger she shows toward him feels real this time, rather than another performance or strategy like in the earlier episodes. Both can be true: she has used him, and she has developed genuine feelings for him. The problem is that, after learning the truth about her own history, she seems to see herself as someone as calculating as her mother. Perhaps for the first time, she recognizes how much Lu Zhuo has given her and feels she hasn’t treated him with the same care. That’s also why I think her question to Lady Li about her parents’ relationship, just before requesting the divorce decree, matters so much. Her mother’s answer seems to reinforce her belief that love should be mutual—that both people should love and give equally. Her feeling that she isn’t good enough for Lu Zhuo doesn’t come only from what everyone else has been saying. It also comes from recognizing his goodness and believing he deserves someone who loves him as deeply as he loves her. That’s how I understand her saying, “We’re simply not right for each other.” To me, she isn’t really talking about their family backgrounds or social standing. She believes there’s an imbalance in their love: that he gives more, loves more, and deserves more than she can offer. We can see her feelings, but I don’t think she fully recognizes their depth herself yet. Sorry for rambling. I just have so many feelings, and like you, I really don’t want to see these two divorce. But I can sense it coming 😂 So please forgive my long message—it’s just me trying to get over all these boiling feelings right now too. Haha.
