They pulled into the diner at just past 3 in the afternoon. It was the only stop on the road for miles, and the only one they planned to make today. Michelle looked disgusted to see what a low class place they'd be eating in, but Jessica was just grateful to have a break from driving for a little while...
Rosa stepped out of the car and stretched, not arguing with the narration in the least. How long had they been driving now? Hours, it felt like. Any excuse to stretch her legs felt great to her. Her Leopard skin patterned pants felt tight around her calves today. Tch, had they shrunk in the wash or something?
Or maybe it was something this stupid Desire was doing to them. Hm, she had to be careful about that. Maybe she should be keeping track of anything that seemed weird to her?
Well for starters, it should be freezing out here. The snow hadn’t stopped falling all trip, and this diner was just as covered as everything else. Her favourite pink top shouldn’t have warded her against the cold at all – it was a pretty thin layer of cloth that barely covered her shoulders - but she didn’t notice a chill in the least.
Bangles clinked around her wrists as she turned back to the car, hand wresting against her hip. “Come on, are you going to wait in the car all day?”
She was answered by the opposite car door opening, and a slightly worn – though looking nowhere near as worn as Rosa felt, in her opinion – Morgan emerged, straightening her glasses. “Is there a reason we stopped here?”
“The voice in the sky said to,” the brunette shrugged. “I guess you missed it while you were sleeping.”
“As if I could sleep while you were howling at the radio,” the other woman muttered, yawning into her suit sleeve. “Maybe I couldn’t hear her over the ringing in my ears.”
“Hmph.” Clearly, there was jealousy in the air. Rosa had a downright angelic singing voice, thank you very much. “Well anyway, if we want out of this stupid story, I guess we’ve got to head in there.”
She nodded towards the diner. The building itself wasn’t anything too impressive to look at. A plastic looking building with one floor, a front that was mostly glass windows to show off all the booths inside, with a big neon sign standing on top of it all proclaiming the place to be ‘Grucky’s’. It looked like something off of a cheap TV show. Maybe the author’s imagination hadn’t been very invested in this place.
“Fine,” the pink haired woman yawned again, sounding almost whiny. “Ugh, these places always do the worst coffee… Are you feeling okay?”
The woman’s sudden concern surprised Rosa. “Yeah?”
“You’re sure?” Morgan stretched, straightening her back. “Something seems… different, about you.”
Definitely not a good thing to hear in this situation. But all the brunette could do was shrug. “My pants have gotten a bit tighter, I think.”
“Ah.” Morgan nodded, wincing. “I suppose that’s something we should just expect when dealing with Desires.”
“Yeah, exactly.”
The diner was a traditional establishment, the kind frequented only by truckers and people with nowhere else to go. The tables were clean, but the seats were tough, and the menu only had five items, most of which were beans. A gruff looking waitress stood behind the counter, nodding to the pair as they moved in to sit down.
Stepping through the front door made it clear that the inside was just as generic as the outside. A smattering of seating booths were placed around a long counter, which, true to text, a waitress in a white blouse and a red apron was watching them from behind. Less true to text, however, was her rather youthful looking face, and her rather large chest…
“Sure, that’s what ‘gruff’ looks like,” Rosa muttered as she stalked towards one of the booths.
Morgan shrugged. “Desires will be Desires…”
There were a few other customers sat around the place, but they were little more than ill-defined shadows. The writer hadn’t invested any effort into them at all. The two of them took a seat at one of the tables by the window, and as they did the narration began again.
Jessica took a seat nervously. So far this journey had been a quiet one, but maybe now she'd have a chance to try and understand her daughter. When the waitress came by, she ordered for the table, and then looked at Michelle. It was time to try to have a talk.
The brunette groaned at that, leaning back in her chair. “What are we supposed to talk about, exactly?”
“I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to re-establish our resistance,” the woman across from her muttered. “No matter what this book thinks, I am most certainly not your mother.”
Neither of them noticed how she seemed to shrink an inch or two as she spoke those words.
Rosa was too busy agreeing, after all. “Oh definitely. I’ve already got one impossible to please parent, I don’t need two.” She shifted, growing a touch taller in her seat. “When do we get to ord-?”
“What can I getcha?” Both women jumped as the waitress seemed to materialise next to them. She was, as is typical of such characters, holding a notepad in one hand, and a worn down pencil in the other. Her role was clear.
“Uh.” The brunette at the table glanced at her companion, before looking back to the woman. “Do you have a menu or anything?”
The question went unanswered. Instead, the waitress just scrawled something illegible in her notepad. “Gotcha. One dunkable doughnut and two stacks of stacked pancakes, comin’ up!”
And then she walked away, strutting back behind the counter without a second glance in their direction.
“I… Okay, whatever.” Rosa shrugged, shaking her head, before looking back to Morgan. “Where was I?”
Morgan was looking out the window. “I believe you were explaining how I was not in any way a vessel for any issues you might have with your mother. And I agree – that would be totally ridiculous. Beyond that, however, I don’t think we have anything to talk about here.” She shrank another inch, not that either woman noticed.
By now, the brunette was getting annoyed. Her supposed advisor’s attitude had been playing on her nerves all day, and at this point it was starting to boil over. “Could you at least look at me when I’m talking to you?”
She sat up straighter, trying to look more authoritative – and in the process, grew a little taller as well.
It had no effect on Morgan though. The pink haired woman continued to look away, out through the window, her nails tapping on the table – each tap seeming to come with a small loss in height. “I’m keeping an eye on our environment – as you should be.”
Rosa’s eye twitched. She knew she deserved more respect than this. Advisor or no, Rosa was the Serenity here. Morgan was just- just a regular person! Maybe she had experience and book learning, but in the end it was never going to be her out there fighting.
“Look,” she began, leaning over the table as she grew larger still. “I know I’m never going to be good enough for you…”
That was as far as she got before a raised palm cut her off. “Is this really the place for this kind of conversation?” The pink haired woman finally glanced at her for a moment, her expression definitively unimpressed. “Don’t forget, we’re under constant threat from a Desire here. One who wants to manipulate our every action and use them to corrupt us.” She pulled her hand back and adjusted herself in her seat, trying to lift herself up to compensate for how low down she was suddenly feeling. “Don’t give her the chance.”
It was a logical argument, but not one Rosa was in any mood for at this point. “I haven’t forgotten. Who could forget?! But we still have to-!”
“Enough!” Morgan’s hand slammed against the table, and she matched Rosa’s glare pound for pound, even though she had to look up to do so. “Just leave it, please, instead of insisting on a conversation that’s bound to turn us into absurd caricatures.”
The two stared at each other for a moment, before they each broke away, neither happy about how things were going.
‘Little brat,’ the brunette thought to herself. It was an accurate thought, too, or at least it was in some ways. When the two women had entered the diner, Rosa had been slightly the shorter of the two, with Morgan being just a touch taller. Now, though, they were easily more than a foot apart in height, the brunette now towering over her pink haired companion…
It didn't go well. Nothing had changed when the waitress arrived. Silently, the pair tucked into their food, Jessica frowning all the while. What would it take to make a connection with her daughter?
There was a clink as the waitress set a pair of plates down in front of them. Rosa found herself staring blankly at one of the largest doughnuts she had ever seen, while her view of Morgan was being blocked by two massive towers of pancakes, both of which were absolutely brimming with fruit pieces, chocolate shavings, mountains of cream, and sticky sauces.
“I guess when they said stacked, they meant stacked…” The brunette muttered as the waitress strutted away.
Morgan didn’t reply – still sulking? Whatever. If she was going to be a brat, then she could be a brat on her own. They could eat in silence for all that Rosa cared. Shrugging, she lifted her doughnut to her mouth and took a bite.
Flavour exploded into her mouth as it was flooded by rich cream, crispy pastry, and powdered sugar. She’d underestimated just how much this stuffing this delight had been packed with, and now she had to live with the delicious consequences, chewing hastily with an approving moan. Despite how lacklustre the diner was, the author clearly had a thing for food! Mm, this dough had just the right amount of chew…
But speaking of dough, all of those pounds had to go somewhere, didn’t they? And while Rosa was distracted by her culinary captivation, they were starting to pile on down below. Her pants grew tighter still around her hips - not quite snapping, but that was only thanks to their elastic waistband.
It was fortunate that her clothes had gotten so stretchy, in fact, because her ass was bubbling outwards with gusto, swelling to a proud wide size over the course of her meal, all of that delightful sweetness stuffing itself straight into her cheeks. They plumped up perfectly, filled with clap and jiggle, overflowing with the stuff until there was just no more room left to pack into the bottom-heavy brunette.
Only then did her growth spurt spread to other areas, like her chest. As she swallowed down the last few bites, her breasts both ballooned outwards beneath her pink top, which proved to be just as flexible as her pants. By the time she was finished with her meal and licking her fingers clean, she was the owner of a proud pair of sweater stuffers, easily able to compete with a figure like the waitress. Not quite as big up top as down below, but still incredibly respectable.
Indeed, it was only when she was done that she looked down at herself and grunted with annoyance.
“Great,” she grumbled. “Yeeep, just got to expect this kind of thing when you’re dealing with desires.”
Perhaps the fact that she was only irritated with the changes to her body, rather than furious, should have been a cause for concern, but she was feeling oddly mellow. Maybe it was the sugar high.
Or maybe it was the fact that she now had a clear view over the table to see Morgan, who had just finished her own meal, having clearly gone at her dish just as ravenously as Rosa had. And now she was looking rather embarrassed – likely because she’d just gone through similar changes.
Though, unlike the brunette, the advisor had grown into a rather top-heavy frame, with her chest now proudly sticking out well over the table in front of her, and more than a few buttons on her blouse having popped off over the course of her meal. Her ass had certainly fattened up – and since her pants had far less give, they had definitely torn in a few places – but it was her tits that were the star of her show now.
Rosa couldn’t help but whistle. “They really did mean stacked, huh?”
That got Morgan past her embarrassment, and earned a sharp glare, before the advisor shoved herself out of her seat and stomped off towards the door with a scoffed “Ugh. Whatever.”
The brunette sighed, before sliding out and strutting after her. ‘Suuuch a brat…’
-
If anything, the next driving stretch was colder than the last.
Yeah, no kidding. Rosa adjusted the radio as the car got underway, country songs filling the silence. Morgan was flat out pretending she wasn’t even with the car with her at this point, having pulled out her phone to play some stupid app game.
Was it so hard to just have an adult conversation? Why did she have to be so immature about all of this? Couldn’t she see how hard all of this was on her, too?
Something felt wrong about all of this, though. The brunette frowned as she tried to focus on that. It was a strange, fuzzy feeling, but she knew she had to pay attention to it. Could the Desire be doing something to-?
Suddenly, the pink haired brat reached out and flipped the station on the radio. The soothing serenade of old country was replaced by the blaring buzz of modern pop – and Rosa completely lost her train of thought.
“Hey!” She complained, looking around at her companion. “I was listening to that!”
Morgan just shrugged, still focused on her phone.
The closest they got to communicating now was when Michelle wordlessly switched the radio station in the middle of a song.
“Bubble pink! Bubble pop!Beats so hard your brain’ll stop!Bubble pop! Bubble pink!Just enjoy, no need to think!”
Ugh, this stuff was all brainless nonsense. How could anyone sing to this stuff? But if it’d get the other girl out of her strop, then maybe it’d be worth putting up with for the moment.
Besides, there were some upsides, Rosa decided while trying not to pout at the loss of her tunes. At least the narration got the one who changed the station wrong. Proof that this resistance strategy was working.
Rolling her eyes and settling back into her seat, the brunette couldn’t help but smirk a little as she drove on, ears slowly filling with irritatingly catchy thoughtless tunes…
-
The sun was setting by the time they reached the motel. After a long day’s drive, the check-in process was all a blur, and soon mother and daughter were getting settled in their shared room. The tension between them still remained, though.
Rosa was tired. It had been a long drive, and by this point her head was feeling completely fried, her brain filled with stupid lyrics to stupid songs.
She didn’t care that the receptionist was such a non-entity in the narrative that she didn’t even have a face. She didn’t care that she and Morgan walked straight to their room without even knowing the directions. She just wanted to rest.
But of course, it wasn’t going to be that simple.
There was only one bed.
Tension that finally came to a boil as the error the motel had made with their booking came to light!
“Oh my god, like, shut up already!” Morgan snapped, glaring at the roof. “No one cares about your stupid book crap or whatever! It isn’t working so go away!”
Rosa blinked, stunned at the outburst. There was something off about it, but the fuzz in her head was a little too thick for her to properly grasp what – and every time she tried, she’d lose her train of thought and those stupid pop songs from the radio would start looping in her head again. Ugh.
So instead she tried reaching out. Despite how tired she was, and despite how unpleasant the drive had been, her heart ached to see the other woman so distressed.
“What’s the matter, sweetie?” She asked, her voice gently reproachful. “The lady’s just doing her job, it’s okay to ignore her…”
“Ugh, you don’t understaaand!” The pink haired woman stomped her foot. “This whole weekend has sucked! The writing sucks. The car sucks. Being stuck with you sucks! It’s just, like, the worst thing ever, and now I don’t even get my own bed!”
Oh wow. Something was definitely wrong here. Super, super wrong. But the fog in her head felt so thick… No, she had to be strong. Morgan needed her. She needed to figure out what the real problem was.
“Darling,” she said, walking over and putting a hand on the shorter woman’s shoulder. “This isn’t like you. You’re normally so cheerful and bright! What’s got your head all knotted up like a big piece of string?
Of course, Jessica could well ask, but it was understandable that Michelle would struggle to express her jealousy.
“I’m not jealous!” The pinkette barked at the ceiling, furious.
What?
“Sweetheart, I didn’t say anything about jealousy…” Rosa said, brow furrowing in confusion.
That got Morgan looking back around at her. “No, the, um… The… Oohhh…” The smaller woman’s eyes crossed, her lips pushing into a plump pout. She looked adorably stupid. Ah, but, that was wrong, wasn’t it-?
Jessica giggled, stroking her daughter’s back. Her baby had never been the brightest bulb, so this was nothing new.
Oh right~ Poor Michi had always been pretty dumb. This was totally normal for her. Rosa giggled, rubbing the girl’s back gently, even as they glared at the ceiling some more.
“H-hey, that’s… Um… Like… Really mean and stuff…!”
Now, though, she was starting to get concerned. Was her girl hearing voices?
“What do you mean, dear?” She asked. “Who are you talking to?”
The question seemed to confound Michelle. “Uh…” Blonde was seeping into her pink hair as she paused, finger pressed to her lips. “I dunno?”
To be fair, most questions did that to her. Rosa smiled, relieved to hear a normal answer out of her. Though, she did still have a rather important question. “Now what’s this I’m hearing about jealousy?”
That one got through to Michelle. She clutched her hands nervously, threading her fingers like she’d gotten caught raiding the cookie jar. Her eyes flicked left and right, hunting for escape even as her cheeks turned a cute shade of pink. She found no way out.
“Well… I mean… It’s like… You’re a Ser3N1#%-”
Rosa blinked, shaking her head. For a moment, her ears had filled with static. Probably still ringing from all those stupid pop songs. “Sorry, what was that?”
“I said, you have daddy all to yourself!”
Jessica nodded understandingly. That made way more sense.
“And, and, like, none of my boy toys ever measure up!” Michi continued, the words now welling up from the depths of her soul, tears in the corners of her eyes. She stomped her foot again. “It’s not faaaaaair!”
“Oh honey, come here.” She wrapped her girl in a hug, smothering her face in her chest by accident (and habit) just like always. “You don’t need to tell me how lucky I am to have your father! But don’t sell yourself short, honeybunch. You’re a beautiful flower and any hubby would be happy to have you.” She lifted her daughter’s chin and dried her eyes with a careful finger. “You just need to keep putting out until you land the big man of you dreams!”
Michi sniffled. “You promise?”
She nodded, smiling proudly. “I promise. I’ll even give you some tips on how to dress properly slutty to show off your boobs!”
“Awh, momma!” The now fully blonde young adult wrapped her arms around her mother, returning her hug a hundred fold. “Thank you! I know I’ve totally got the bestest daddy in the whole wide world, but my momma’s pretty great too~”
Jessica’s heart melted. “Anything for you, my little sweetpea.” She giggled, looking down at the girl. “Even if you’re not so little anymore.”
They stayed there, basking in one another’s warmth, until the inevitable tide of tiredness swept over them both. Yawning, they finally separated, and went to get changed into their night clothes, before crawling under the sheets and setting off towards slumberland.
The brunette was the last one to hit the pillow, her eyes slowly sliding closed. Something… still felt wrong… here… But seeing her daughter’s smile as she snuggled against her, already dead asleep, she couldn’t quite bring herself to care. Instead, she just relaxed, letting herself drift off back to sleep, all of her worries evaporating in a sea of pleasant dreams…
-
When they woke, it was a brand new day. The snow had melted with the rising sun, and the refreshing breeze carried the promise of spring. Relationship renewed, the drive back home was barely a journey at all, buoyed by the strengthened bond between mother and daughter.
Everything was a blur now, the narrative skipping past massive chunks of the journey now that it had hit the payload the writer was interested in. That barely even registered to Jessica and Michelle, though, who woke from their sleep to find themselves already in the car, driving down blossoming spring roads.
The radio was on, playing the same brain blasting tunes from yesterday. Somehow, they sounded a lot more pleasant to the brunette’s ears now. In fact…
“Bubble pink! Bubble pop!” She sang, happily letting the lyrics tingle between her ears.
“Beats so hard your brain’ll stop!” Michelle joined in, bobbing her head merrily.
“Bubble pop! Bubble pink!” The two voices merged as one, the distance between them a thing of the past.
“Just enjoy, no need to think!” The pair smiled stupidly at one another, looking every bit the mother and daughter that they were. And, well, they did always say that Michi got her lack of brains from somewhere…
Soon enough, they reached their destination – home. And the man waiting for them there.
The car rolled into the driveway and stopped, almost on autopilot. The pair emerged from it into a suburban world of picket fences and charming bungalows that seemed to stretch out towards infinity. Once upon a time the lack of detail, the impossibility of a situation that the author clearly hadn’t thought through, would have bothered them… But neither noticed.
They were both too focused on the ill-defined male figure waiting at the door for them.
“Darling!”
“Daddy~!”
“Welcome home girls,” the indistinct shadow laughed in a masculine voice. “How was your trip?”
The two grinned knowingly at one another. “Just fine,” they said together.
“That’s good!” ‘He’ said. “Because someone needs to get to work cooking dinner already!”
All three joined together laughing – even though ‘he’ certainly wasn’t joking.
“Oh you~” Jessica smiled. Hubby on one arm, daughter on the other, she smiled. Everything was right with the world.
Then it all faded to white.
-
The light faded, and all of a sudden, the book store was back – along with its inhabitants. The paper Desire. The malevolent minion. The busty clerk. And the two customers lying in a heap at the bottom of the stairs.
Rosanne was helping her daughter to her feet. “Come on now Ashley,” she was saying, her voice filled with matronly reproach. “You know better than to be checking your phone while you walk.”
“But moooom.” Ashley, meanwhile, was still paying more attention to her device. “I gotta post my selfieees!” There was a flash as she pursed her plump lips at he camera.
They made for a distinctive pair. The mother was an older woman in a pink top and cougar pants, neither of which did anything to hide her incredible curves (especially her ass). Tacky jewellery hung from her wrists and ears, pearls around her neck, and her face looked like it hadn’t been seen without a smothering amount of makeup for the past thirty years. A stereotypical housewife, through and through.
The daughter, meanwhile, was a little more modern – but was just as stereotypical. A woman in her early twenties, she was just as blessed with curves as her mother (though her blessings were more concentrated in her chest). She wore a white blouse, but had chosen to wear it tied under her breasts rather than buttoned up, and a pink skirt that really didn’t reach very far down her thighs at all. Her long blonde hair was done up with pretty pink bows, a shade that matched her nails, her phone, and the choker around her neck. Yes, while her mother had a traditional look, Ashley clearly just went for the slutty option.
“You can take selfies once we get upstairs,” Rosanne told her, guiding her up the steps. “Sorry we’re late, Mira. Traffic can be murder sometimes.”
“Not a problem, girls,” the blonde giggled, stepping past to let them through. “Go and take a seat!” Then as they walked past her, she glanced down to her mistress.
The Desire just winked, before vanishing in a flurry of magazines and books, and settling herself back around the shop. When today’s book club meeting ended, the members would each be taking a little piece of her home with them, and spreading her power across the city. Soon, there would be book clubs just like this one all over the world~!
Upstairs, though…
“We’re here!”
“Oh, Rosanne, I was wondering when you’d arrive!” A smirking blonde in a slinky dress greeted her, strutting over as the pair entered the reading room. “Nothing serious held you up, I hope?”
The housewife shrugged as she urged her daughter over to a chair – said daughter again captivated by her phone. “Well, you know how it is Alex – traffic is terrible at this time of day.”
“Traffic, mm?” The blonde leaned over. “Strange that no one else ran into any problems. But I’m sure your lateness has nothing to do with that stud of a husband of yours being home, does it?”
The brunette blushed bright red. Caught! “I, uh – I don’t know what you mean!”
Alexandria sensed blood. “That’s your daughter’s line, dear. But don’t worry. I won’t get you in trouble with the girls. And maybe in return, you could invite me around to meet the man himself some time. You’ve bragged about him so much, one can’t help but be curious.” Her smile grew wider. “And I’m sure the two of us can find a few ways to help him demonstrate his talents together, mm?”
The blush grew deeper, and then deeper still as Rosanne began to consider it. “Well… His birthday is coming up…”
Meanwhile, Ashley was facing her own trials.
“Aww, look at you, such a little cutie~!”
“Aunt Sophieeeee, like, you’re gunna mess up my makeup!” The blonde struggled, but no one could escape the smothering kisses of a delighted auntie.
“Well maybe if you weren’t just so cute!” Sophia finally let Ashley go, but only reluctantly. “They must totally love you on that doohikie camera thing!”
The blonde’s eyes lit up. “Oh, they totally do! Wanna take a selfie with me? I bet they’ll love you too!”
The blunette put a finger to her lips. “Oh, you think? I dunno, I’m not good with, like, technology stuff…”
“Oh, it’s easy. Just stand here, and I can handle the rest!” Ashley nodded, pulling the other woman up next to her and lifting her camera. “Say studs!”
“Ooooh, studs? Where?”
There was a flash, and despite their distraction, the two posing bimbos took a proud selfie (one which was probably 80% breast by volume) – one that was certain to get them plenty of interest online. It even caught the pair making plans for a ‘birthday surprise’ in the background, as well as dozens of other beautiful women around the reading circle.
It’d make one hell of an ad for the club. One that’s message was clear:
Life as a Serenity wasn’t easy – but these ladies certainly were!
