Ready for more? Buckle up, because we're back for the final season of Young Royals. 💙 👑

We hope you enjoy our reaction to Episode 5 of Season 3. It's been quite the ride so far; watching Simon and Wilhelm and the rest of the crew navigate their time at Hillerska and, unfortunately, things are coming to a close. But in true Young Royals fashion, it won't be going down without a fight. 😆

Stay tuned for the rest of Young Royals! 👀

Lisaaaaa

Happy birthday Willie 🥲😭

AngelaTeacher

You guys are so emotionally mature and insightful, it’s very impressive. And I agree with your ending thoughts 💯 I think you’ll love the finale :)

@baydreamer

Wille throwing the gjfts on the floor was unscripted. Omar's reaction was real.

Pam R

This is my favorite episode because I waited 3 seasons for someone to call out Willie's parents. I get she's grieving but so is he. they've been taking all.this pressure off her and putting it on him. That's not how parents are supposed to act. I hate his father the most because he was able to function right and spent all his time helping his wife while neglecting his child. The do you see me brings chills every time.

Ludy

I'm not done yet but I just want to say this: My dad was an addict. My parents were still together but I knew from a very young age that he just couldn't be counted on. I loved my dad and miss him a little (he passed three years ago) but I knew I couldn't ever truly count on him.

Lauren

Worst birthday ever! 😭 I feel so much for Wile because his parents really have abandoned him. Simon's feelings/ pain are equally important, but thank goodness he has Linda, who cares so much and is so involved. Wile is just all defensiveness & anger because its what he has to use for his parents to listen. Literally, his mother dismisses him every time until he is super angry/ screaming, and even then still dismisses it as impulsive/ immature/ inappropriate. The time he asked his mom "can you just be my mother right now?" and asked his dad " can you see me?" just kills me. 😭 And not one bit of any of this is Simon's fault, but of course he can't live with the Royal Court level pressure, even if it breaks his heart. It doesn't matter how much he loves Wilhelm if he loses himself in the process. He has to take care of his own mental health first. Rewatching, it really does make sense why Simon has to break up w/ him. He doesn't * want* to, but the situation as is just feels impossible, and you can't blame him! Our poor boys 💔 🥹 This conflict is what really hooked me from S1. Neither Simon or Wile is ever the villian, and they both try * so* hard, and yet it's still so difficult /complex. I think it's such a refreshing take on trauma/grief/conflict. i It's not drama just because or to make you hate one character, or call one a bad boyfriend. They are just two complicated people really trying to love each other with so many things out of their control.

Ludy

😭😭😭😭

Ludy

Ok I'm done. I want to preface this buy saying I am a 42 year old mother of 11, YR old boy/girl twins. If something happened to EITHER of them, my first priority would be my other baby that lost their sibling. I would stop whatever I was doing and focus on my remaining child. Full stop. No exceptions. The fact that they didn't spend any time together after Erik's death... They didn't take him to school, Farima did. Malin giving Wille his outfit for his birthday, not his mom. Momma not having the ability to even fake it until you make it and eat some damn cake with the poor boy... That scene KILLS me. I watched it with a friend a few weeks ago and we were both sobbing through that part. It just breaks my heart and the mother in me wants to pull him into my arms and make him feel safe and loved. OK om done crying. I'm going to bed.

Dennis Verner

Bradley, I think as an actor, you appreciate the quality of the acting in this series. There is a scene in the final episode (no spoilers although I'm sure you have already seen it) where Wilhelm and Simon are having a conversation. Simon leaves and Wilhelm simply has to turn and leave. Watch how Edvin handles that simple action. He doesn't just turn, he walks backward, several steps, keeping his gaze on Simon, then finally turns and exits. The extra tension and drama that that simple decision to execute that movement is pure acting grace.

Dennis Verner

By the way, thank you both for the way you handled this episode. First class.

snallahej

Love your measured response to the Simon and Wilhelm ending scene. August continued to prove he is the worst in this ep with his passive-aggressive move cutting in front of Simon, separating him from Wilhelm when they entered the event. He exposed Simon in the worst way with the leak and doesn’t even try to apologize to him, only to Wilhelm because he needs the royal family for his own worth. Incredibly excited for you to watch FT!!!!!Such an important show, especially now.

Dennis Verner

How many times can it be said; the writing in this series is so damn good!

Karoliina

Perfect analysis! Beautifully described the whole mess. 💜

Karoliina

It was my 16th time seeing this episode (as with any episode) and I am still crying. Every time it feels equally difficult to watch the scenes in the Royal Palace and the devastation with Wille and Simon at the end is just breaking my heart. The only solace I find is to focus on Simon's t-shirts color, that gives me the hope that MAYBE they can resolve this, because Simon has never stopped loving that prince.

Karoliina

Bradley and Adam, your analysis at the end was very insightful, mature and beautiful. It's clear this show has affected you the same way as it has all of us. It is so much more than just entertainment. It's going to hurt you when you have to say goodbye to Wille and Simon, but this show lives beyond that. You will still be able to enjoy so much more content, so don't worry too much. 💜

chou

this show was always meant to be 3 seasons :)

Frances

And the people who watched this season when it first came out, had to wait an entire week for the final episode to be released…. It was pure torture 😭

chou

btw someone probably mentioned it already but the woman with the guitar in the birthday song is Lisa, who wrote the series :) she got a cameo ahaha and this song is actually the song her family sang as a birthday song from an old Swedish animated series about a frog and a cricket. shes playing her fathers guitar!

Karoliina

And the other co-writer, the male don't remember his name is once serving the food to the boys in the lunch room.

chou

jerry something? i cant remember either but he's in the doc

Pam R

My sister has kids ranging from 9 to 21. She never watched the show but knows the storyline because of one of her kids and me. I showed her the cake scene. She knew about Erik's death and everything. When the Queen and Duke got up to leave after the candles were blown out she was pissed. She was like, you can feel like crap and horrible but if you can't superglue yourself together for your child on their birthday, then you're a shit parent.

Helen Wilson

Omg why did I not sign up right at the 1st episode. I had no one to watch it with. I love your reactions and descriptions to every episode. I look forward to watching last episode with you guys. Be prepared not to let it go as millions of us fans aren't able to move on it's just the most amazing program ever imo and changed my life for the better and I'm 65, buckle up boys and thanku from the bottom of my heart for watching YR 🫶❤️

LM-Entertainment Australia

is it martin söder? he was a producer. talks about the casting of characters in the show. might have just been a producer for "young royals forever" - not sure of his role in the actual show.

LM-Entertainment Australia

i love this episode - despite the sadness. i think august's letter which he reads to sara shows all of his vulnerabilities. we know he's acted like a very shit person through the entire series. there are glimpses though where he shows his vulnerable side. the letter shows some of the deep trauma on all different levels that he has and the person he trusts that to is sara. omar and edvins acting in this episode is superb (not that it isnt in others). the scene at the end was a masterclass by edvin. he was so brilliant in delivering that scene. the very final scene is so heartbreaking. cant wait to watch the finale and doco with you! also so excited that skam and heartbreak high were on the upcoming list.

Ludy

I would have FLIPPED A TABLE

AngelaTeacher

Honestly, I have no memories of that week other than waiting for the finale. No thoughts, just YR. I remember each day being so excruciatingly slow. I still haven’t forgiven Netflix.

Frances

SAME 🤣😭

AngelaTeacher

Perfect analysis of Wilmon! They could communicate better sometimes, but no one is ever right or wrong. It’s just so complicated. But if you remove all of the external conflicts, they are so good for each other.

Lauren

So glad that wasn't me!! So awful watching them break up like that 💔💔😭

Lauren

It is!! Makes me want to watch whatever Lisa writes next for sure. I think she'd be a great author, too. ( omg, if we could have a novel 😫❤️)

Lauren

High praise, I can tell you know your stuff 😆 The more I rewatch/see the reaction the more apparent it is that Wile is SO damn lonely everywhere he goes, and it's so heartbreaking 💔

Bradam Reacts

YES! YES YES YES! they needed to be told!! the explosion onto them was 100% deserved. obviously a conversation would’ve been healthier- but in all honesty, they would NOT have listened. in fact, i can’t even tell if they DID listen to his words and he was screaming at them. i’m so glad we got that scene. 😮‍💨

Lauren

I really love how each of the main character makes mistakes in unexpected ways, and how Lisa makes everyone in shades of gray. I felt so much for both boys from S1, because in many ways it always felt like they were both right and wrong at the same time. That's why I love that one line coming in the finale, will comment about that later . 😜 When they are left alone, they couldn't be happier. It's everything else that's a mess 😭

Bradam Reacts

genuinely sick and twisted for them to do 😭 ESPECIALLY because netflix isn’t known for releasing stuff like that- they’re crazy for that

Bradam Reacts

well no matter what we’re just glad you made it!! it’s truly a well-done, magical series, and now we know first-hand why it has the beautiful fandom it does. we love young royals 💕

Lauren

Such a great point. I'm 40, & my kids are 14 and 6. I feel so much for Wile because he just NEEDS his damned PARENTS. The poor kid is dealing with so many adult issues, all by himself. ( Thank goodness for Boris, the counselor! ) There is no doubt a child's death would be soul destroying...but damn, they didn't even want him at home. They sent him back to Hillerska ASAP. I can't imagine! I'd never want my remaining child to live away from me after losing their sibling . They truly made the monarchy their job and not their family. So sad. When you are an parent there is literally nothing more important than your child(ren), no matter who you are.

sobelou

Thanks Adam and Bradley for another "Tour de Force" reaction. Bradley, you may be on to something with your theorizing.... Yes, love isn't always a bed of roses, but it shouldn't be that hard... ❤❤

Ludy

Remember when Wille got back to Hillerska after Erik's funeral and he hugged the headmistress? That poor kid was starving for affection. That scene kills me. SOMEONE HUG THAT KID.

Lauren

YES the way he embraced her was so jarring for a second, because they weren't close. But then you realize he just needed it so much, and she was there- respecting him and his grief 💔

Chelsea

I was so nervous for you at the start of this episode! So many things happen these last two episodes! Such a fun reaction as always! And this is where the show had a 7 day break before dropping the last episode. It was like torture! But it’s been so fun going on this journey with you!

Enthrall-2024

It is in fact a magical series. I am a member of the thriving fandom. It is so hard to let go of this series. IRL Edvin and Omar are their own people, but we continue to get flirtatious content from them. What teasers! ❤️ BTW we’re currently noting the one year anniversary of these last episodes.

Helen Wilson

Oh we do indeed especially that they're bringing Duo back out the promo has been crazy goid good I love the fandom and being part of it is great but there's such a divide between the young and older fans on twitter plus there's parts of it being really toxic to Edvin that he had to delete his account so while the fandom as a whole is amazing there's just a small section im not keen on

Dennis Verner

Forgot to mention (don't know if anyone else did) the person playing the guitar for the song the family is singing for Wilhelm is Lisa Ambjörn the creator and head writer of the series.

jazz

possibly the most impressive thing this show does is make everyone who loves simon and wilhelm's relationship go "hmm, maybe they shouldn't be together" in the final minutes of the penultimate episode

Marstrand

Me for one don’t like this episode. Too sad for my liking 😔. Unpopular opinion: Right choice by Simon to end things with Wilhelm for his own sake but wrong timing. Not on Wilhelm’s birthday and when Wilhelm for ones stood up for himself against his parents and are devestated afterwards. That is the moment Simon desides to break up? should have waited to next day. I feel for both of them but the timing was wrong. Anyway, looking forward to watch the last episode with you guys 😌.

Karoliina

I agree. This timing could have made Wille think that he's been punished also now, when he is standing up to them. Which was supposed to be what he needed to do to keep Simon close.

Tara

AH!!! I’ve never watched this episode through in one sitting but forced myself tonight so I’m ready for the finale tomorrow! Now I’m gonna go cry myself to sleep 😭💔

Frida

Can't wait until watching the last episode with you. Today it is exactly one year since it was aired on Netflix. We all remember how it effected us, and still is.

Helen Wilson

Where's the last episode guys, I thought we'd have seen it today with it being the anniversary of last episode, hope you guys are OK ❤️

Roxanne

I loved that little detail!!!

Dennis Verner

Thank you gentlemen, can't wait!

Joy2464

That 7 day break was so brilliant. Gave us "obsessed" fans time to watch episodes 1-5 more than once. And then the cast gathered and watched it with a group of fans seeing it for the first time. Fandom gold.

Flo

Everything about that final scene is so heartbreaking, even down to the song choice “loving you is a losing game” gives me chills every time

swoony.books

I know I'm a little late to the party, but still wanted to drop this little hidden gem that I don't think has been commented on yet: 'The Green Carnation Flower' that Wilhelm is wearing at the public ceremony for his birthday, is one of the earliest known symbols of LGBTQ+ identity, made famous by Oscar Wilde in the late 19th century. This episode is heartbreaking in so many ways, but that small gesture shows Wille starting to take a stance 💚
