In this video, we react to Episode 5 of Fellow Travelers, "Promise You Won't Write".

Bradam is back for another queer romance! A HIGHLY requested show, we are watching Fellow Travelers. We have been told to expect all the drama– lots of emotions, sex, passion and the like.

"Fellow Travelers" is a Showtime miniseries based on Thomas Mallon's novel, chronicling the tumultuous romance between Hawkins Fuller (Matt Bomer), a charismatic State Department official, and Timothy Laughlin (Jonathan Bailey), a young, religious man, navigating the McCarthy era and beyond, facing political persecution and personal struggles. 👔🤫

Senator Smith killed himself over the guilt he felt about his son and to stop them from replacing him with a pro McCarthy senator. McCarthy had to resign which ended the witch hunt on Commies and Queers. At least publicly. Marcus and Frankie are the true romance of the show for me. Hawk is just to unlikable for me to root for.

You guys are doing the best reaction to this show I've seen, and I've watched them all. As for what's real and what's not, although Senator Smith is a fictional character, he is almost entirely based on Wyoming Senator Lester C. Hunt. Hunt's son Buddy was arrested for soliciting sex from a male undercover cop. Hunt's adversaries in the Senate tried to blackmail him into resigning by threatening to release info about his son's arrest. Hunt went into his Senate office in June of 1954 and shot himself. Yeah, the Frankie and Marcus trajectory is definitely a bit more hopeful and gives you something to latch onto in this show, despite Marcus's occasional awful moves like leaving Frankie and the singer behind during the raid. But at least there is growth with Marcus, mainly because Frankie pretty much demands it, and rightly so. Tim finally seeing the light on McCarthy was a long time coming, but he finally got there. As for Hawk, despite there being some sweet moments, he just is SO brutal in his methods of self-preservation. Tim says "I need to get over you"--hooo boy, yes, you really do, Tim! Realizing he needs to get over Hawk has been a long time coming, too.

Hawk is a piece of shir. Making Leonard going to that facility!! I understand self-preservation, but hurting a queer person like that?? Even though Hwak and Marcus have same perspective and ideals. Their partners had a rule in thier relationship failing/successeding. Tim is worset person to fall in love for Hawk. He is clingy, emotional and trusting. He wouldn't have been able to change Hwak. Frankie is more realistic and more independent, I believe that help this Marcus to feel safe to open-up.

hawk was wearing the tie tim gave him during the polygraph btw!! iconic ngl

Have you guys read about Roy Cohn being Donald Trump's lawyer in the 80s? He's the one who taught Trump how to be Trump. We're literally still paying for Roy Cohn's evil today. Collapse replies
