In this video, we react to Season 4 Episode 4 of Skam (Cast of Norway) - "Allah hadde digget deg / Allah would dig you"

We have made it to the final season of SKAM Norway! 🥲💛 This season, we focus on our queen Sana Bakkoush, as she navigates balancing her faith, friendships, and budding romance with her brother's non-Muslim friend, Yousef, tackling themes of religious identity, cyberbullying, and in classic Skam fashion, all the high school drama one could ask for.

Watch as our group of Norwegian teens tackle identity, queerness, substances, mental illness, religion, bullying, friendship, romance and the like, all while navigating their high school experience.

Stay tuned for the next episode! 🥰🇳🇴

Fun fact- Sana( charachter, not the actress) is born on 24.december- christmas eve. She is the yongest of all charachters in Skam.

Emilie

Yay more Skam!! Actually the scene where Elias is drunk is not around 4 PM, it is more like 9 PM, the sun just sets really late during spring and summer in Norway <3

inka

it's incredible how current this show and its themes can be even after almost 10 years later!! loved your reflection as always

This season was a huge part of my journey to figuring out what my beliefs and values are. What Yousef said at the end of this episode made me realise that even if I choose to leave the religion I was born into, that doesnt mean i have to leave the values that i wanted to hold onto behind. That probably seems like it’d be obvious, but to me it definitely wasn’t at the time and I remember that realisation felt so liberating.

Ugh the entire Friday clip is one of my favourites this season for so many reasons ❤️ The clip starts with a song called "Gunerius" by the Norwegian duo Karpe Diem, and then ends with a gorgeous cover version of the same song by the then 20 year old artist named Delara. The lyrics are so good too, both versions really, but Delara obviously altered them and added a different perspective. Some of my fav lines from her version are "you are the rook on the chess board, black and powerless, but if you attack and do a good move you can become queen" ("queen" is said when they pan over to Sana). And also the part that goes "You're scared of people with veils, I feel you. I have the same fear of people with polo shirts and slicked back hair" Also yessss, Sana and Yousef's conversation is so so good and important! As someone who is not religious at all and lowkey has some bad experiences trying to talk to people about beliefs, it was SO refreshing to see the open and honest way they were dealing with the topic ❤️

They are also just devastatingly cute with each other, ughhhh

Ugh I loooove deconstructing and discussing religion, it’s so much fun! I also think this was a super important season to have after Isak’s journey in season 3, bc it is a natural continuation on the theme of self acceptance and exploration of identity, but from the ”opposite” side of the spectrum (that a lot of teens in Scandinavia were/are on, many here are both culturally Muslim and practicing). That last clip where San’s and Yousef are playing and having a conversation is so good, and still relevant today. Also, good luck with the new apartment🤸‍♂️

Love love love the last clip! Sana & Yousef have amazing chemistry and I loved their talk 🥺

Thank you for a great reaction!! ❤️ This episode is so good, because you get Sana's perspective on Islam and how she gets strength and a peace of mind from praying. So important to get that perspective in a society where muslims usually only gets the blame for crimes and gets a lot of hate. Their discussion also opens up important conversations about religion. An other thing - a fun fact, Iman, the actress playing Sana, is a basketball player in real life. 😊Don't know if she plays today, but she can play for real. And she's just so beautiful, I love when she smiles 🥰

Maria Månsson

He was not drunk in the middle of the day, it was past 8 pm :D the sun just sets really late here haha

I love how Nora and Sana's actresses are still good friends irl and we see them on their sm together often

Dionne Lakey

She is so stunning. Her small knowing smiles invite you to be friends with her.

This was the episode, along with the locker conversation between Even and Sana in the previous episode, when we realise that Sana and Even had been pretending not to know each other in season 3. That she had so much knowledge and information about Even's bipolar, sexuality, and value as a person and friend, that Isak didn't know about. She'd intuited that Even wanted to keep his past a secret at the time and she was a part of his past. She's so good at keeping other people's business to herself. And not gossiping. Just her, as a teenager, with her values, even when she makes mistakes, makes her a really good role model for fans of Skam. She is so well rounded as a character.

This is also the episode where when Season 3 ended we were like season 4 will give you so much more Even lore, watch it soon! I adore that Yusuf is such a good friend to Even that he was affected by what happened to him. Also, it's a revelation that Even had the whole Balloon Squad as his friend group before he moved to Isak's school.

eyla.

The scenes between yousef & sana were so beautiful, loved the discussion that they had

Sara

Thank youuuuu! ❤️

YAY SKAM continues. Thanks boys. Have a happy new year!

From what I've learned, a Muslim woman cannot marry a non-Muslim man, but a Muslim man could marry a non-Muslim woman as long as she was from an Abrahamic religion (Islam, Christianity or Judaism). At least like… per the religious rules, obviously people can take what they want from any kind of religion, but that's why Sana is so upset when she finds out and why she unfriends him.

Isak

That conversation between Sana and Yousef about religion, with the cuts of them picking flowers, is the most beautiful scene I've seen in all of television, ever. The instrumental playing in the background is from the song "Into the Woods" by Fay Wildhagen. I had a period where I listened to it incessantly (before I ever watched SKAM). Its opening lines are "you are safe with me / don't worry with the winds chasing the sea / breathe out breathe in / listen to trees catch by the wind". And it just... watching that scene knowing so well how the lyrics to that song goes... and the unexplainable relatability of Sana... it hits a soft spot in like a good way

Bradam Reacts

there's something so dream like about the entire scene... i can totally see why it has such a special place in your heart 🥹♥️
