I ultimately stuck with this show (I've watched the whole series)... but it is a lot like the show Girls was for me. Very cringe. Lots of secondhand embarrassment. Not to say that the writing and acting aren't great - they are - but they were hard watches for me.

Just a quick explanation about the Escapulário. As a Brazilian, this is part of my culture and I wear one too. It comes from the origins of the Catholic Church, where the Virgin Mary is believed to have given one to Saint Simon Stock as a sign of protection and devotion. The one used in the show is the classic version, which is two small brown pieces of cloth connected by a cord. I think a lot of Latin countries share this tradition, but in Brazil we have a very strong devotion to Our Lady of Aparecida, who is the patron saint of Brazil, officially declared almost 100 years ago by Pope Pius. Nowadays we usually wear them in silver or gold like necklaces, but the difference is that they normally have two images of Our Lady on the same chain. We wear one in the front and one on the back, because the idea is that we’re protected in the front and also in the back — the places we can’t see — following the same meaning as the original escapulário. In Brazil there are also many people who don’t really follow a religious life or even believe in the Bible, but still believe in Our Lady of Aparecida, who is often seen as the “mother” of all of us. Just a little fun fact since Bradley said he didn’t know what it was. ☺

It is kind of a mirror for a lot of things we all do... that are kinda awful. That is uncomfortable to watch ( granted it is magnified here). I love how honest the show is but yeah it can be SO hard to watch.

I feel low-key hypocritical, agreeing with Richie that he and Patrick are moving way too fast after having watched Heated Rivalry and not minding the speed of Scott and Kip's relationship at all.

I attempted to watch this show by myself but it was too uncomfortable. Lol turns out still uncomfortable with you guys but definitely better. 😅 the Dom kiss at the end, 😬. The filming/sex, 😬😬. Patty always stresses me out. I had to keep hiding in the comments. Yikes on bikes. The best part of the episode was Patty's boss' boyfriend-😍.

Yes, nowadays it’s rare to see people wearing the original version, but even so it says more about appreciating our culture than just religiosity. I feel like the fact that Patrick feels a little embarrassed to wear it is the show’s way of hinting that deep down he’s actually embarrassed of Richie.

Omg I love this episode so much. It makes my skin crawl and that's just evidence of how well done it is. Augustin is such a little bitch. You know who the MVP of this whole series is, is Doris. What a star that woman is to put up with all these narcissistic little baby boys 😅.
