Whyyyyyyyy. Why do I watch this when there are no comments? 😶‍🌫️

Beth

Omg, now that the torture is over, my biggest question is how can Patty want a relationship with someone who will cheat-cheat on their partner? Not like got drunk one time and made out with someone cheat, but like full on emotionally cheat as well as physically. Have a full blown side relationship!? How could you trust them? Kevin is obviously not a good guy, but I guess neither is Patty. There was so much to cringe about in this episode I almost melted into my couch. But when Dom and Lynn had their talk at the flower shop it made me cry for both of them.

Geo

This one was sad in a lot of ways. I think all the characters took more account in this episode, though, which could turn things a new way. Next ep may be my favorite of the whole series.

Geo

I think Patrick is on a journey of self-awareness and accountability. He is not a bad guy though he makes awful choices: he just doesn't look beyond himself enough. He doesn't slow down enough to think of consequences (or at time to take accountability for how his words and actions might hit others). He needs to focus outward a bit more and allow discomfort in so that he can be ready for a real relationship. I think a lot of us are more like him than we realize or want to admit. He tends to take the path of least resistance to the detriment of himself and those he cares about.

Beth

I don’t know. He’s actively in a relationship with someone in a monogamous relationship. He’s a little racist and fairly classist. He doesn't show any signs of trying to improve these faults, nor does he seem to notice them. He's a nice guy, who we're supposed to like, but a good guy he is not. Nice and good are not the same. He's not malicious or mean. But he's pretty problematic as are the people he associates with. He's definitely on a journey, but possibly not in a better direction. I haven’t seen the whole series so possibly there's a redemption arc coming but the way he's portrayed is he's the good guy, when he's not.

I honestly felt bad for Dom. I don’t think he did anything wrong—since they were already in a relationship, he had every right to set expectations, no matter how new it was. Especially when it comes to open relationships, which some people just can’t accept, and that’s totally okay. He clearly had expectations and has every right to feel hurt that they were broken. Neither of them is wrong, they just wanted different things.

Kenzie_kenz1

I don’t find Patrick and Kevin endearing even in the slightest lol so I’m not feeling very bad for Patrick… oops

Geo

I don't see the compatibility many see. Having common interests and both being nerdy does not make them a great couple.

Geo

Yeah. I agree that he is by no means a good guy. I also don't see him as a bad guy. I think he is for sure the main PROTAGONIST, but by no means is he written as the guy we should like all the time. He mostly means well but that doesn't mean much, in fact gets him to justify horrible actions, and I think he is meant to be hard to watch. But again I think he is much more like many gay white men ( with some racism and classism a lot of us sadly have) than most of us would like to admit. When this came out, many hated the show for just this reason.

Dom and Lynn’s situation is so difficult. I can see where both of them are coming from. On one hand, Lynn is older and is comfortable living his life the way he has been but on the other hand, I do agree with Dom that he’s capable of having another loving and nurturing partner after Brian. It’s just tough. Lynn never lied to him and even opened the relationship so that Dom could get what he needed. I just want my older gays to be happy 😭😭

IAmom

I ADORE you guys - I love how many times you look away or hide your faces because it is so so painful to watch LOL.

Scott aka Blue62

Agreed, and I think that was a very well-written and well-acted scene.

Scott aka Blue62

I love this episode. Real conversations about real situations, everyone realizing how things are and finding things out about themselves. I love you guys so no shade at all, but I don't really get the extreme cringe reactions to so much of this show--maybe because I'm as old as dirt and have seen these types of situations play out in real life? It all just seems very authentic--yes, uncomfortable and awkward at times, but that's life, no? I think it's a brilliantly written show.

Geo

I feel the same. It can be uncomfortable but it seems realistic and hews to the dumb mistakes and difficult decisions most of us make. This episode showed all the characters taking inventory a bit and deciding just a little bit more what it is they really need.

Lin

I feel the same way. Andrew Haigh is a brilliant writer and all the characters feel authentic and real even when they make questionable choices. People are messy and make mistakes, it's part of being human.

Bradam Reacts

agreed! we love seeing this dynamic portrayed VERY well

K

I’ll be so sad when this show is over because with intro and outro these videos end up the perfect length for my treadmill workouts 😅

Desiree M.

Turn it off…lololololol 😂😂😂

Nayvette Ruiz

I don't know why it came to mind in this episode, but they should react to Tales of the city another queer show that Dom's actor happens to be on too.

electricspacegirl

Did you notice the reference to Mrs. Madrigal? Not sure if it was in this episode or a previous one.

Bradley: Makes adorable faces... Me: 😏
