Honestly can’t wait for the movie !

Jacqui Chesterton

Oh I love that last scene with Richie and Patrick - cutting someone's hair is so intimate. There's this great Irish movie from the 90s called The Nephew that includes a scene where the girl cuts off the guy's locks and shaves his head and it was cleeeearly meant to stand in place of a physical love scene in the film, and I think this ending scene does something similar. The tension with Patrick and Kevin is around physical intimacy and so it's so interesting to see Patrick be intimate with Richie in a completely different way. No sex, not even talking. Ugh it makes me want to take film studies again haha.

KKK butt orgy had me deadddddd.

Geo

I think that last scene gets to an underlying willingness for each of them to be vulnerable in a way they always have wanted to be but both have been afraid to be. I think Patrick just realizes that as stubborn as Richie has been and as needy as he has been, they at times had an easy banter and generosity between them. Friendship makes that easier.

Geo

I don't think something long and strong could have happened between Kevin and Patrick. Their values and interests are just too different. On paper they look good and are both nerdy gamers; but overall it felt so performative between them. The scene with all the gays being white and pretty seemed to be a big hint: Patrick and Kevin look similar on the surface, but seeming similar isn't compatibility and they just don't expand each other enough. I am curious at why you two thought they could make it work yet were so convinced Patrick and Richie should never work? Genuinely interested. Saw that sentiment revealed a few times when this came out, and have always wondered what was behind it

Geo

The Society was renewed, but then COVID happened and they decided it was too much to see through with all the pandemic entailed.

wren

my feelings towards kevin flipped flopped so many times throughout this show. i never knew who to truly root for 😭

gabi felix

Kevin is still such a manchild! And I 100% agree with Patrick, I’d rather die than be in an open relationship, and that’s completely a personality thing😭

Lin

Conversation about views on monogamy/exclusivity should happen before moving in of course but the portrayal of that conversation was so well done in my opinion and at the time I couldn't remember any other piece of media portraying that. I don't think Kevin's views are inherently wrong, open relationships can be as successful and fulfilling as monogamous if both/all parties are aligned in their views. Same as views on cheating, people can have different definitions and it's important to discuss that.

Scott aka Blue62

Agree completely--that brief, subtle final scene is one of my favorites of the whole show.

Scott aka Blue62

I think this was a great episode to end the season and I absolutely loved the final barbershop scene. We all thought at the time that there would be a season 3, but I remember thinking that even if it didn't happen, the last scene gave me exactly what I wanted, and in a very beautiful, subtle way. I want to thank you guys for reacting to this show, as it is a favorite of mine. Looking forward to your reaction to the movie.

Geo

It is subtly moving and without words shows how their connection has evolved.

Kitty Betham

OMG!! WTH!! At least Heated Rivalry had a closing episode. Kevin is a slimball. Patrick deserves better. Not sure if the movie will solve that situation.

Geo

That last scene gave me hope that these two could just be there for each other, in whatever way

Michael LDN

How you get ‘em is how you lose ‘em! Kevin would 100% betray any arrangement Kevin and Patrick come up with anyway.

Mama Pam

So true. Just like any relationship, it needs to be consensual for all parties involved, and Patrick never consented to non-monogamy. That's why Kevin is fully in the wrong here. If you don't talk about being open with someone who thinks you're exclusive, that's cheating

Mama Pam

I have been Team Richie from the very beginning and this episode validated that. I'm so excited to see your final reaction to the movie!

Traci Brandon

We thought that was the end when this episode aired and the movie was a surprise. My friend never watched the finale because she loved Patrick and Kevin together and didn't want to see them break up.

Jerry Chirip Jr.

I believe this was intended to be a season finale with some unanswered questions about the characters and their stories, since the creators were planning for a season 3 before the show was canceled. That's why the movie was made to give the characters (and viewers) some closure. And the best part? The movie is a full 90 minutes long, so there's still plenty more tea to be spilled. I can't wait for you both to watch it!

Rebekah

i've loved watching this show alongside you and I completely agree with what you said about patrick and kevin! it was lowkey crazy that they didn't have some of these conversations before moving in together. that scene with richie and patrick may be one of my favourite closing scenes to a show ever. especially the fact that richie uses his nickname for patrick (pato) that no one else uses for him. they have a kind of intimacy and connection that they don't have with anyone else and it is the sweetest. only good things for them both!!! also i'm not saying anything, but also just know that i think you will both very much love some of the things that go down in the movie 😏

Geo

Not that Kevin would ever cheat or anything...

Geo

Richie is overly proud and not communicative enough about some things, but he is steady. Patrick need steady. Richie needs someone who can be realistic and determined. Patrick is making steps towards that, but are they enough?

Geo

Yea they have an intimacy with each other (some of the time) that is so cute. This is why two of my favorite episodes are the ones with them taking a day out. We see Kevin sharing with Patrick, but the easiness was never there. I also think that even though Richie's Pride made him try to push Patrick's confession away, that moment of vulnerability and honesty from Patrick made Richie trust him in a way that sealed the friendship. That kind of risk and openness just didn't exist with Kevin.

Geo

We always said if they cheat with you they'll cheat on you.

Rebekah

ugh yes agree with all of this!

Kent Smither

I also think two of my (and my just my two) favorite scenes are the two where "Pato" and Richie spend the day together -- the observatory and the ice cream truck. I absolutely love their interplay!

Rebekah

yes those are two of my favourites as well! their dynamic is so cute
