The album and accompanying concert of the last few centuries is finally here... but at what cost? Find out Lestat & Louis' fate with us in the finale of AMC's "The Vampire Lestat!" 🤘🏻

Why the long face, my pretty baby? 🔥👅

We're so back with this new installment of the adopted Vampire Chronicles! 'The Vampire Lestat' is here to melt our faces off with 7 episodes of rock n' roll, sex, drugs and most importantly... our husband is back on our screen. Front and center stage. 🕺🏻

Following the events of the previously reacted to 'Interview with the Vampire' (2022), 'The Vampire Lestat' takes place in 2025 after the interview between Louis De Pointe Du Lac and newfound vampire Daniel Malloy is published and flies off the shelves. Now with vampires exposed (whether they're believed or not), Lestat's rock n' roll world tour is being followed by a documentary crew, and we will witness the greatness that is, the Vampire Lestat.

Boas, leather pants, blood, nudity, music, fights and NEXT-LEVEL DRAMA to be expected. Plus our husbands will finally be reunited. And we're here for it all. 🎸

And trust, we will be watching the Queen of the Damned, so always keep those vampire ears listening 👂

We're so grateful to have you all here on the Patreon 💕 your support is so special to us.

I don’t think Armand necessarily needs to be defended (as an Armand enjoyer), I think that they have all done horrible things and have these (to quote Rolin Jones the show runner) 7 layer burrito reasons for doing so. All of them are damaged and destructive, they are all victims and abusers. They’re not absolved, but I don’t think the show wants us to totally villainize them either. I continue to be interested in Armand’s story despite everything he has done; his deep-seated pain and forced helplessness are compelling for a character and I look forward to seeing more of his perspective. Assad is just too good as an actor and I need more of him! I think it’s also important to acknowledge that we are only seeing someone’s point of view and can never be 100% of what’s true. Imo it’s not that interesting to just paint characters as good or bad, or even rank them in terms of worse deeds. But that’s just my preference for engaging with the show. Love the reaction!

ezra

as an armand defender i have to say i agree with you guys, i really was not a fan of this episode because of how inconsistent armand’s characterisation was and in the grand scheme of the whole season, i feel like this finale failed (lol) at getting across what they were trying to get across. please don’t feel stupid or like things have gone over your heads, because even fans of the books and people who know the lore are confused about how some things have been adapted this season (particularly armand and gabriella)

Timothy Alberts

For me, if you love Lestat, I don't understand how someone can not love this season! Also, I would watch Sam Reid sleep! I had no trouble following the plot, and I loved how the writers pulled from history, literature, and poetry to tell the story.

Kayla

It’s so interesting to see how people interpret things differently because I personally have had no issue following the plot and I think that this season is honestly more dark and devastating than the previous two seasons. Yes it’s a big tonal shift but the things being discussed within these episodes are traumatic and absolutely heartbreaking.

em (they/them)

I am an armand enjoyer but not an armand defender if that makes sense. I just think he's super interesting! Fwiw I semi-jokingly call myself an armand "stan" but in reality, I agree with you (and frankly most armand enjoyers) that he has done and continues to do awful shit. Consequently, my favorite character in the whole show is claudia, aka the one that armand killed, so.....

Yas

I fear with the understanding of these episodes' you guys would have to lock in essentially. Like, no talking really just listening. Though, I know that's something you guys can't do really when you're posting on YT. I personally enjoyed this season as much as the last series it is a different style of narration definitely Lestat's mindless rambling over Louis's clouded recollection of events was not easy to get used to. I believe it was a great way to tie up the ending of the characters stories while also eager to see what's next! I'm sure the new show will have different pacing with a new narrator or better yet all the main characters. Has anyone else read or started reading the novels because after this finale? I'm super eager to see what details and differences are solely in the novels.

Ashley

I loved this season of IWTV, as someone who has read the full Anne Rice universe multiple times now, I think that a lot of details and information can make a lot of "issues" or confusion clear with this series but it would require a lot of explanation and would give away future storylines that I'm sure they will incorporate into the show at some point. I think that remembering to look at all our characters with a lens of fault is essential because they have all done horrible things and they are all unreliable narrators which is the beauty of the universe. You never really know what is the truth and what isn't, it depends on who is narrating at the moment. I also think Armand is a very complex character, as an Armand and Daniel stan, that we really haven't explored a lot in the TV series yet. I think a series like this can be difficult to understand and really fully comprehend when you haven't read the books, and you have the additional pressure you guys have of making content and conversation at the same time. Overall I loved this series, and maybe a rewatch or two will help you feel better about the storylines. Every character is flawed and untrustworthy and much more complicated than we know at this point so I wouldn't stress about it too much!

VV

I definitely think people who read the books probably had less of an issue because this is how different the books were as well.

Hannah Trower

Personally, this is my favorite season of the show so far (though I really loved seasons 1 and 2 too, especially season 1). But yeah, the writing is incredibly dense and fast paced, and hard to follow on a primary watch through, especially since you're live reacting. As Ryan Kattner (Salamander and also one of the writers) said on social media, each episode really benefits from being watched at least twice because the rate of things that are happening and commented on and being revealed is just so high. There are definitely elements that are easier to understand as a book reader (even with the significant changes therefrom), but I don't think it's totally necessary: they'll get to further explanations when they get to them. And a lot of things are still open to interpretation and deep analysis of acting choices, shooting, etc (including unresolved questions from seasons 1 and 2). You guys might enjoy watching Talamasca or Mayfair Witches, but there isn't info in this season that you lose out on at all from not having watched them, there's very little crossover so far. But a rewatch to see what the season is doing with the benefit of hindsight of having seen it all play out would be of benefit (especially since it would give you a chance to get more of the dialogue that was missed because you were simultaneously live reacting and commenting). Not necessarily for the channel, obviously, but just to get your bearings, because the season does throw a lot at you!

Hannah Trower

One major thing that I noticed too is that in this episode, when his life is flashing before his eyes and we revisit the scene of Gabriella tending his wounds and molesting him after he killed the wolves, his facial expression is *different* than it was when we first saw the scene in ep 2. In ep 2, he's sort of smiling and looks very out of it, in ep 7 he looks disgusted and pained--since he's come to terms with the fact that she's abusing him and that's not okay. Also some of those revisited scenes when his life is flashing before his eyes and he's dying are just in reverse, and others are also mirror flipped...I don't know what it means but I'm sure it will be fodder for crazy in depth analysis as we impatiently await season 4.

Oliver

Everything I'm gonna say, I'm saying lovingly. Love you guys! These vampires are all evil guys, they all done horrific things, some of them makes sense, some of them don't (And the main four is the main characters btw). The scene with Armand and Louis makes sense, because they tortured each other for 77 years. How are you meant to get over your horrific trauma if none of your partners ever listen to you? When he told him his backstory in season 2, Louis did not care, used his trauma to control him by getting him into a sort of bdsm relationship where he used the name he had when he was enslaved, made fun of his trauma in the 70's, etc. And yes, Armand did horrible stuff to Louis as well, as we know. It was thanks to Lestat and Armand that Claudia died, but she would have died even if those two were not there, and Louis with him, because Louis wouldn't join the coven and disrespected Santiago, who is a petty bitch. If Armand wasn't there, those two would have died much earlier as well. Armand did warn Louis on the bench, to leave Paris, because he cannot keep away the coven any longer, but Louis refused. But tbh Claudia was doomed the second they turned her, which is why (amongst other things) she despises them. Madeline and Armand were the only two people who actually saw her as who she truly is, and yes, the latter punished her for it. But as I witnessed, we can excuse Lestat's bad deeds with his traumas, and Louis never did anything wrong, Armand's the fault for everything, always. And if that were the case, I'd still love him tbh. He should be allowed to kill people after everything that happened, LMAO. But, all four of them love each other deep down all the hate, Armand and Lestat are friends as Lestat said. They are even more than friends, they are brothers (and as we know, brothers love to bicker, the girls are fighting all day, everyday), Louis and Armand respect each other (well, now they do, that they made their amends), Lestat and Daniel are a brat duo, Daniel and Louis are the mediators when shit gets wrong as they are the calmer bunch out of the four, and besties. Louis and Lestat are soulmates as Daniel and Armand are. I think (I could be wrong about this) that the A on Louis's chest was a protection mark, since a lot of vampires mean to hurt him. If they look at his chest and see that he is under Armand's protection, they will back off even more. But it could be just a petty thing as well, lmao. All this to say, I love every character in this show sincerely (the main ones anyway, fuck marius), and I could spend hours defending them, but that's not the point, it has never been the point. There is no levels to evil, evil comes with one horrific deed. If someone assaults someone, we won't forgive them because they haven't killed the person. We are deeply angry about that assault and the perpetrator goes to prison. It is disrespectful to the victims as well to compare and seek levels to evils. And yeah, of course this is just a tv show, and not real life, so anyone could do it just for fun. I just think it is silly and pointless, and I usually turn my head from it. Sorry if I came up a bit bitter or incoherent about all of this, it wasn't meant. It's like, 7AM.

VV

Don't sell yourself short, you guys are very smart because you always seem to figure out the things you actually hear. But you did in fact talk over some key points this episode. 🤗 Including the Talamasca's motivation, Regina's (Claudia) part in the story, what Gabriella was trying to teach Lestat at the "witches" burning, and what Louis was apologizing to Armand for (he definitely wasn't saying his trauma was an acceptable reason for what he did... more like how he ignored Armand's back story because it would force him to think about what he as a Pimp subjected his workers to. Also, being a pimp he recognized something in Armand that he took advantage of). I guarantee if you guys watched it again without having the cameras on, so you can lock in, you both would have no problem piecing everything together. I BELIEVE IN YOU GUYS! 😉 As for Paul: My take on Paul is in fact he was a spirit. Since Lestat was so close to actual death it allowed Paul to sit with him. Like stories of people dying and right before they pass on they see loved ones who have died before them, to guide them on to where they go next. In many tales of souls they are often represented as "silver threads" and Lestat mentioning this feels like he was getting a glimpse of the countless souls collected in the great beyond. And Paul has always said that God speaks to him through the birds. So hearing the birdsong was us hearing God speaking to Paul. (Love the implication that God is a woman when Paul says "ma'am".) And I don't think Paul "snoozed" the timer (like Lestat did) but rather reset it. So a new countdown to Lestat's final death has now begun. Only we (even Lestat) don't get to see just how long that is.

I think this season is more of a character study than it is plot-driven. They obviously did have important moments that will come into play later, like the Akasha and Lestat history, but overall I think the main focus was on Lestat facing his past and accepting how much that formed him. The Vampire Lestat book is in a way the same thing before the big Akasha story but I can see why a lot of people didn't expect such a huge tonal shift. There are 13 books in the Vampire Chronicles and I would say that tonal shift happens quite a lot and can be very drastic at times, but hopefully this season can prepare more people for those sudden changes in the future. Also, a lot of the events in The Vampire Lestat overlaps with The Queen of the Damned so we aren't necessarily finished with book 2 yet even though we are now moving on to the next one. I would recommend watching The Queen of the Damned movie to get a feel of the story, though do keep in mind that it's not entirely book accurate and this show does follow the books better so it won't necessarily be any big spoilers if you were to watch it before the season comes out. I think the movie does work well as a stand-alone, but for a book adaptation it is not the greatest in my opinion. If you decide to watch then you also might notice some characters and lore being a bit different compared to the show. Finally, the last thing I will say about Akasha is that she is definitely not this iconic girlboss feminist that everyone thinks she is, but I love my evil queen regardless, and I can't wait to see how they will or won't adapt that into the show.

Steven Jump

Lestat is very much at the center of The Queen Of The Damned as well as the rest of the series of books. I don't hate on Daniel. He was manipulated by Armand as was Alex. Armand has his own book in the series that goes deeper into his trauma and why he acts the way he does. If they are only going to use one season per book from now on they need to give us more episodes, not just 7. IWTV got 2 seasons to tell the story. So should have TVL.

Macie

Lestat is actually still the main narrator of The Queen of the Damned, but we do get to also hear from other characters, so that is a change! I'm not sure how they will do it in the show, but in the books, Lestat narrates most of the stories, as it is things that he has personally lived through, and the events that he wasn't there for get told to him or written down so that he can publish them in his in-universe books. I can see them going down a different path though for the show because they have already changed him from writing books to making recordings of his life story instead.

Macie

The scene with Paul and Lestat was so good! Paul reassuring Lestat that Louis does love him even though he never said those words allowed Lestat to realize that he is actually loved. Also, Paul being the one to tell him this is even more meaningful when you remember that the last time Louis said those words, it was to Paul right before he killed himself. Since then, Louis has gone through life believing that his love kills, which is why he never directly said it to Lestat or Claudia, but also why it was so easy for him to say it to Armand in season 2 when he was trying to shift their conversation because he didn't actually mean it, and also unfortunately for Armand he didn't care if he had died after. We also saw this guilt in season 2 of never saying it to Lestat come up when he was hallucinating him and had dreamstat call him out on this. I think this explains so much about their relationship because while Louis had his reasons for withholding his love, it also explains a lot about Lestat's insecurity in their relationship. As we learnt this season, his view of love has been entirely screwed up by his mother. So with Louis already depressed in NOLA and his low libido from refusing to drink human blood, he couldn't show him physically or verbally.

emma

Have you guys watched bottoms??

NuttyrockchickART

be warned the queen of the damned film other than having an really good soundtrack is very bad film anne rice abolutely hated it. i really hope the show does the book justice. interview was always louis story, vampire lestat is his story. listen to the audiobooks.

Lauren

I haven't read anything past the first book ( and that was too long ago as a teen) or watched Talamasca. It is a cliffhanger in terms of how the destruction happened and how the Talamasca was involved, other than saving our boys. You didn't miss it, we just don't how the night ended until next season ( hopefully! We need to know about the eye patch and prosthetic leg from the season premiere auction.) Akasha is the Queen of the Damned. Everyone besides Magnus at the long table was Lestat's fledgling- when it starts, Magnus says, fledgling, state your name" when Antoinette takes notes. ( We learn Lestat must have turned TC). Of course all of them are Lestat's thoughts about how he is a failure. I loved how Paul came to him to say Louis loved him for his last moment before being saved. Armand is just a petty mess! He was terrifying !

🪼

The scene at the table is all in lestat’s head. This is how he thinks the people in his life view him, he believes he failed them all and that deep down they all hate him.

Kate

Now you've finished the show, would love it if you guys could react to Jacob and Sam (Louis and Lestat) reading thirst tweets with Buzzfeed :)

Timothy Alberts

I don't mean this as a criticism, but I don't know if you can successfully follow the show while reacting to it. Lestat, I believe, is a superior or extraordinarily unique being. Over and above most other vampires. Which is what Akasha recognized in him and called him to her. Anne loved him above all others in her books, and having read them all, I perhaps have a more nuanced view.

Bradam Reacts

YESSS okay AND THIS IS WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO CONVEY!!! obvi no one is perfect and of course we're going to love and defend daddy lestaddy down during the season where we get his tortured POV! sounds like armand has had it pretty bad too (definitely) so it's SOOOO interesting as the lens moves from one person to the next the amount of sympathy you gain! on the vampire moral spectrum tho armand's not looking too hot and lestat's on the more positive side (at the moment!!!)

Bradam Reacts

this was SUUUUUCHHHH a good season MMMMM it was almost more like a character study. it so deeply was a season FOR lestat which is why the tonal shift worked so well!!! i'm so glad it didn't feel like a "regular" season of IWTV! i'm sure we would've ate it up, but this breathed the freshest of air into the characters and their stories!

Bradam Reacts

YES YES YES!!! character study!!!! that is perfectly said. we're watching a season about Lestat and who he is as a person, a vampire, an artist, a lover and as a character! the story was about who he truly is and what he has endured and what he leads too. i think searching for like a classic western story-telling plot in a season like this (like we're so used to) makes it feel "plot-less" (as I've seen it sooooo incorrectly put in some on-off online opinions on like twitter) I think this was such a strong addition to the vampire chronicles stories and this season holds so much weight!! and it relied on it's powerhouse acting abilities from it's actors to which I say they did wonderfully!!!! we're so excited for QOTD and I think could help those who feel negatively towards this season. LESTAT FOREVER!!!

Bradam Reacts

okay so as I've gone back and (finally) - we're so behind on YouTube - edited episode 5 I'm catching lots of little things that, even in moments we're silent in, went straight over my head. the dialogue is SO tight and small words and moments carry SO much weight in this season. I was editing through armand and daniel's conversation in the park and realized how much i had missed in that small conversation after daniel interviews people in manhattan! the writing and acting CARRY this season with full force! you got to be TUNED IN! soooooo so goood omg

Bradam Reacts

okay I just wrote this in a comment above but you wont get notified so I want to reiterate but im just gonna copy and paste and then talk a little bit more "okay so as I've gone back and (finally) - we're so behind on YouTube - edited episode 5 I'm catching lots of little things that, even in moments we're silent in, went straight over my head. the dialogue is SO tight and small words and moments carry SO much weight in this season. I was editing through armand and daniel's conversation in the park and realized how much i had missed in that small conversation after daniel interviews people in manhattan! the writing and acting CARRY this season with full force! you got to be TUNED IN! soooooo so goood omg" I think a big part of armand's character is the trauma that he's experienced and has only so lightly talked about/referenced. I think his desires and pursuits backed by what he has been through would be very eye opening! as this lens gets passed around you gain so much depth and intimacy with the character- allowing for so much room for empathy! everyone being murderous vampires makes for such good dialogue around morality and such!

Bradam Reacts

YESSS! agreed! he was such a powerhouse and the drama queen we wanted all season long. plus you gain like unlimited empathy for him and his story. it was such a rock n roll season i'm so sad it only got 7 episodes!! I need queen of the damned narrated by him and with like 12!

Bradam Reacts

totally! and having a better understanding of the world they've built (with nuance in the text) and also knowing the ending really can help people trust and sympathize with certain characters and their choices! plus the writing and dialogue is so tight and beautifully avant-garde that to have that in mind sometimes helps the translation land a little quicker than it sometimes did for us!

Bradam Reacts

I think (as far as I'm concerned, and with my lack of textual knowledge regarding TVL) Gabriella was great, and such a plot driver and added so much nuance and discourse to this season. she was loveable yet completely UNBEARABLE, and I thought her course was pretty clear. I think I need Armand driven home a lot quicker. I just couldn't tell exactly what he was aiming for... better relationship with daniel... no conversion... kill the band... apologize to everyone... get forgiven... get apologies... can't handle thr truth... while also still being SUCH a nuanced charcter because we know he has trauma!!!!! and so a season with him (perhaps prior to TVL) maybe would've helped us hone in on him and his reasons and what's driving his actions. I loved this season regardless- I really think it's up there with the first two seaons

Bradam Reacts

TEAAA!! I love that this has been your favorite season!! It's true... as I get back to editing these for YouTube (which is pretty slow and lots of combing through, so i catch dialogue another 2-3x over) I'M PICKING UP SO MUCH. even in scenes that we didn't talk over- holy cow it's just all in the small details of the writing. I think that's so impressive!!! I'm glad this show already has a devoted audience who loves these characters to death, because it works so well but it is TIGHT in there!!! hahahaha I mean we're even on camera paying 100% attention and things are just blowing by us 🙈

Bradam Reacts

HEHEHEEEHE okayyyy true! we love our little armandians... we don't understand you fully YET! but we love you nonetheless!! he has so much trauma and is going to be VERYYYY interesting when we get to hone in on him, his history and his character a bit more

Bradam Reacts

It sounds like (from what I've read) Queen of the Damned is almost going to be like s2 of TVL (?) as someone who has not consumed the source material- it sounds as tho the two books/stories overlap pretty heavily, so they're going to be weaving them together next season. will it be successful in fully doing so if that's the case? i'm not sure! i just pray we get more than 7 episodes!

Bradam Reacts

yes!!!! omg a FAVORITE comedy of ours... maybe another one we need to rewatch 👀

Bradam Reacts

YIKES!! okay as far as I'm aware, these seasons would really do Anne proud, I can't imagine they'll miss with this next one. we loved this season and need all the lestat we can get!

makenzie bough

I would love it if you guys would watch Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson reading thirst tweets and any of the after dark episodes it’s really fun to see the cast interact and learn more abt the actors and the characters.

CoolCoolCool

guys, for the next season i suggest maybe stopping the episode when commenting so you don't miss very important dialogues that most times answer to your questions
