I want to say to the purple involved with the writing of Driven Affairs: as far as erotic games go, this is the best story I've ever read. The social interactions feel more organic, mainly due to the artwork. I wonder if the final product will include voice actors.

Hey Naughty Algorithm, at first I wanted to say that I have never saw an Renpy game that is that well made, when it comes to performance, visuals and story writing - I am flashed! I just wanted to report an exception in version 0.08 76323021805. Honestly, it feels like the story is being written by someone entirely different once the "AI" stuff pops up. I've had to sit through two speeches about some topic that just came up in the last scene, and the second speech about "protecting women" is being given by someone acting totally out of character. I wouldn't call it "bad", but it's definitely a serious departure from the tone up until that point.

IIRC, it's July and Stella in Chapter 7. Everyone starts speaking in mostly the same voice, and some issues with the text come along. But the moment July hops into the car to tell you about an interview she does with a Comp Scientist? I could practically hear the writer saying "Ah, GPT is popular. Let's make a whole thing about it". Fast forward to picking up Stella for the bidding and she's lost her "composed professional" persona and started talking like the driver and acting super catty. She's got a swear and a jab ready for literally everyone, and a whole speech about how the porn industry needs to protect women. Not to mention the occasional manic expression. Were this how she was characterized from the start, it wouldn't even faze me; but she's been written as "composed", "subtle", and "calculating" all the way down, not as a mask she's put on to cope. Suddenly hearing her calling literally everyone a dickhead, moron, and/or insect, then following it with an emotional plead with her driver of all people? That's a hell of a swerve.

Well, DA set in modern NYC setting, we try to incorporate current trends and news on purpose, to have a feel of current events. I see where you're coming from, but Stella is a maniac. She is indeed a composed and subtle, but as very often happens with people of this kind, she has her "bad" side too. She's not a psychopath, but she has more in common with Patrick Bateman than, let's say, Tony Stark.

I'm with you on making things feel current. But did we need a whole two sections talking about hypothetical AI applications in a porn game? In a vacuum, I could easily let this one go. It's current, everyone's talking about it, and I'm sure it's hard NOT to. But then it's paired with the Stella issue. At that point, how much of the chapter is left? Stella is utterly bipolar around this point. She goes from composed (if annoyed) professional lady, to catty Highschool girl matching her driver's speech register, to pleading with her driver that she deeply cares about the safety and wellbeing of her workers, and how so much work needs to be done to protect them harder... all in one scene. Like, pick a lane: 1) She's above it all: Calm, cool, and collected, with a fetish for keeping men on a leash. She doesn't care what the "help" thinks about her, because he's literally several dozen pay grades beneath her and he'll do what she says if he knows what's good for him. 2) She's putting on a detached mask that cracks under pressure to show she's actually a bitchy, working-class Mean Girl in her private moments. She cares very much about others, if only as targets to point her anger towards. 3) She's actually a tender soul deep down who really cares what the "help" thinks about her, and the "domination" and "status" thing is just a bit of roleplay she indulges in to be someone else for a bit.

Why not? We're making adult game that could be interested for people outside of usual adult-games circle, if we would just stick to porn, isn't it better to go watch porn instead? Not sure I'm following the rest. Applesmith case is personal for Stella and has a long history, it affects her and her business directly. She hates him and will do anything to put him down, as he does harm to the industry as a whole and AltaClasse specifically, and now he's on the way of her buying out SSS. Does she care about woman in the industry? Yes, because she is also one of them. Does she care about Applesmith harming the industry? Yes, because she's an industry. Her emotions are totally understandable, don't you think?

It was long and unfocused. If I had hired July to write an article to keep me up to date on trends, and all I got was a long list of "Maybe", we'd be having some words. I could kind of get it the first time, when she'd apparently just now finally touched it, but then we got a second round of unfocused speculation, and at that point, my interest was starting to wane. It came off less like "I'm writing an article to keep my boss up to date" and more "Let me repeat every last 'what if' I heard this week". As for the Stella bit, unless there's been some kind of rewrite, she shows up to the auction and she's dropped her cool demeanor not just for this one guy, but for everyone. The controlled, subtly-threatening woman is now just gossiping about every last face that pops up on the screen with the "help". It comes off less as the high-powered porn industry executive we'd been dealing with up until now, and more like a woman who peaked back when she was a cheerleader in high school. You've obviously written her as having a rival. And obviously she'll have actual feelings about that. But let me put it this way: 1) Why did she start talking like her driver? They have the same register in that scene for some reason when it's managed to stay pretty distinct up until then. 2) Why does she care what her driver thinks about her work? She knows what she's about. There's no need to have a heart to heart about how the industry is, and how much she cares. His job is to do what she says, not validate her mission. 3) Why is she losing her temper in public now? "Help" or not, are we supposed to believe she's just stopped cultivating that aura of "control" she's been working with because, Applesmith aside, some other randos showed up? She can care about the girls. She can be mad about Applesmith. Hell, she can be mad in general and lose her temper. The real problem is that she's suddenly talking to her driver, the "help", as if they're equals. Unless you're building up to that, and we're going to find out she's got humble beginnings, this is totally out of left field.
