Some retrieved sound files (Patreon)

TLDR: a server I was a part of shut down and I decided to share some sound files I had uploaded on there.

So, I was a part of this great community on Discord. A server for VA's and script writers where we encouraged each other and shared tech tips and talked about YouTube algorithms and... you know. Anything a VA on YouTube could need support with.

It was a great collection of people and I really liked it in there.

Two days ago, it was announced the server would be shut down, and now it has been. I am working trough the sense of loss.

This post is more for me than for you, perhaps. To work though a small part of it.

A friend sent me this, and I think it can help in more than this situation:

Every ending is not a loss, but the soil where beginnings take root. What fades clears the path for what’s meant to grow, and only by letting go can something greater take its place.

Now, I did manage to save some of the files I had on there. See attached!

I thought I'd share them with you. Following is an explanation for each.

"Mercs annoyed" and "Mercs quiet now"

One person was making a point that each VA would read a short passage vastly different, and challenged a bunch of us to read two different texts in our own interpretation. I usually don't throw my family out of the computer room to record something, but I made an exception (he can be very convincing).

On their own, they don't really illustrate the point, but still, here is my part. In case you enjoy.

Inner thoughts

Just a blooper. The line was "See? His inner thoughts are showing!"

Mouth sound

Another person on there had a real big issue with mouth sounds. At first I couldn't even understand what he was talking about, his tongue would make a small click sometimes, and he would hear it and say the word over and over trying to not click... It became somewhat of a thing where we learned to remove them with the spectral view in Audacity.

This one take of mine was beyond saving though! :D

Sudden random thought

Just a random thing that happened while I was recording. I suddenly started wondering what blowing on the microphone would sound like. Here is the answer. One person told me they got ASMR tingles from it, so... maybe?

So... anyway. I am letting myself be sad and tired today. I was up late looking through everything one last time and now it is gone. The person I was on there is somewhere within me but her words are no longer saved in a bubble on the internet.

It is ok, the friends made are still friends, the times had was still had and it was a beautiful chapter of the book that is life. And now we get to write the next chapter.
