The weather does what it wants. Rain falls, winds shift, and storms gather without caring who stands beneath them. But some refuse to leave the skies untouched, adding their own influence to the storm. Their touch can bring gentle rain, healing winds, and welcome relief... or chaos, destruction, and something far worse. 🌧️⚡

  • Monsters (with variants): Raincaller (CR 1), Weather Hag (CR 9), Storm Giant Tempest Rider (CR 17)

  • Item: Thunder Drum - simple drum to blast your foes or motivate your friends (common → rare)

  • Spell: Soothing - a spell to slowly drizzle healing in an area (level 1 abjuration)

  • NPC: Mother Squall - a cruel sea hag who thrives on storms, desperate bargains, and the arrogance of sailors.

  • Encounter: Eye of the Tempest (APL 14) - a massive magical storm holds ancient secrets on the floating island at its center.

I almost gave this one to the storm giant, since it has such a fun mechanic, but in the end, I decided the hag deserved it more. Hags are amazing creatures, but sadly, a lot of what makes them interesting relies on social encounters and a bit of GM skill. While WotC has improved their design somewhat, I still feel they tend to fall a little flat in combat. So whenever I create a hag statblock, I try to make it creative, weird, and a little unpredictable, giving the hag's personality a chance to shine even when the swords come out.
