This is a classic. I love it!

David Keyes

#1 hater, year two of the hater crusade continues. Not even Jaws could fit Chris in his mouth. Most of the people in this movie are more retarded than Curtis. PS These two are still shit.

I thought you guys would have at least had seen this movie before, I would have recommended it a long time ago, lol. This was re-leased in 3D at the theater not too long ago, my dad and I went to see it. We watched it a lot together when I was younger, so it was very nostalgic and it was awesome to see it on the big screen and the 3D was also actually really good, it felt like you were in the water with them. My parents saw it when it first came out and my mom was terrified, she still refuses to watch it again, lol. To me this was the first summer blockbuster film, it's perfect to watch for that time of year and to think that Steve Spielberg was only 27 years old at the time is crazy to me. Originally they were going to show the shark throughout the whole film but the mechanical shark was constantly glitching and shutting down, so they had to use it sparingly. And even though it wasn't the intent, it ended up being the best thing because not seeing the shark until it pops up is what makes the film the masterpiece that it is, at least to me. And it was far more scarier that you didn't see it, you had to imagine it. Hooper's reactions to seeing the first victim said it all. I also really love the friendship that forms between Brody and Hooper, Quinn too but more the other two since they have more scenes together. And Richard Dryfuss' reaction to Quinn's backstory was real and a fun fact about him and Robert Shaw was, they did not get along at first. They did become friends but it took sometime and it actually works since their characters do have audacity for a little bit. I thought it was really cool that they used real shark footage for the scenes with Hooper in the shark cage. The fact that they couldn't rely on CGI and had to do everything practical is what also makes it such a masterpiece. I also really like that even though it was made in the 70's, it doesn't really feel like it. Aside maybe the hairstyles and some of the clothing this can take place any time, it gives a timeless feel. And last, I absolutely love that their boat is named Orca, being that orca's are the number one predator for Sharks, orca's don't have any other then humans, they fear nothing. Great whites are terrified of them, there's been cases where if they sense them near by they will flee and not return to that area for at least a year. I guess all they really had to do was get an orca to do the job in the movie, lol. I have only seen bits and pieces of Jaws 2 and people have said it's pretty good, but Jaws 3D and Jaws the Revenge are just awful, I don't know you might want to watch them just for how bad they actually are, lol.

Lee Fiero (Mrs. Kitner) was visiting Martha's Vineyard (where Jaws was filmed) 25 years after filming, where she found a restaurant that was serving the "Alex Kitner Sandwich". She went inside to tell them that she had played Alex Kitner's mother in the film, and the manager came out to talk to her. That manager was Jeffrey Voorhees, the child actor who had played Alex Kitner.

You have seen Hooper in Stand By Me, Richard Dryfus played the Writer or adult Gordie

Robert Shaw who played Quint was a Bond villain. Watch him in The Sting with Paul Newman and Robert Redford. The film won the Oscar for best picture. Its a great movie. Hooper Richard Dreyfuss has been in many movies. American Graffiti, Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind, The Goodbye Girl, Down and out in Beverly Hills, Stakeout, What About Bob with Bill Murray is so hilarious. Roy Scheider who is Brody is in some real good movies. Klute, The French Connection (Won the Oscar for Best Picture, The Seven-Ups, Marathon Man, All that Jazz he was nominated for best actor, Blue Thunder.

I think the most frightening thing about Jaws is the fact that the story about the USS Indianapolis is real. Also the news guy on the beach on the 4th of July is Peter Benchley, the author of the book.

William Hitchcock-Burke

One of Spielberg's earliest movies is called Duel. It's such a b movie but could be worth watching

William Hitchcock-Burke

Another I recomm is Super 8. Same idea as Jaws but with aliens. Like a proto-stranger things

If we doing Spielberg...The Empire of the Sun. Christian Bale delivers what is possibly the finest performance of a child actor ever seen, prelude to his brilliant career.
