While I’ve been on my training arc, I’ve come to the realization that a big portion of my art frustrations come from me not making the kind of art I want. right now I’m just making cute girls in cute poses, which I’m fine with of course, but in my heart I really want to make fully rendered and illustrative pieces. I’ve always known this but it’s always felt really intimidating to try and start working towards that, but I think as long as I don’t I’ll keep getting quickly frustrated with art. To that end I’ve decided to devote my practice to working towards that kind of art! My biggest issue right now is painting; I feel like painting, especially when I get to the refining/detailed part, really drains my mental stamina, so I’ve been doing at least 2 hours of it a day, focusing on close ups to help with detail work (the faces) and also doing studies based directly off illustrations I really like (the Charlotte one, based off an Alice Vu work). I’m already starting to feel improvement, but it does really tire my brain out!
