It’s been a hard task but I’ve successfully migrated the project to UE5.5. Good news is everything works now. Bad news is the performance issue hasn’t been solved. Please give me another couple days to deal with the bad performance and we should be ready for a working V28 update soon.

Also… the MacBook is only for remotely accessing my home PC during day job 🤦🤦 it does not support Mac for now.

According to the official UE team, the city sample should run at least 20-30% better on 5.5 than my previous 5.3 build

Thanks for your hard work and updates.

Thank for that I will try it when I get boring 😅😅 Edit: thank you for yoyr hard work and fixing those issues 🫡🫡🫡

Some progress… now the game can run at 4k 60 without frame generation and 4k 120 with frame generation even during the destruction. However frame generation will cause handing somehow… I’m still working on solving the issue.

Do you have an estimation of how many GB the game requires on a hard drive? I'd like to support and try the game, even though I'm not sure my PC will handle it 😆

have you tried using LOD and LOS rendering? render half-texture and low-poly on objects that are further than 200m from camera and not in line of sight. Should reduce the CPU and GPU load. Also maybe make the Destruction Sim process every 2 frames instead of every 1 frame. IDK if it's possible in UE5, but if it is that's a 50% performance increase.

GiantessGameUE5

For LOD, we've been relying on Nanite for efficient LOD management, which is a core feature of this game. The destruction simulation runs on multiple threads, utilizing up to 100% of CPU/GPU resources. If it exceeds the limit, the simulation is deferred to the next frame. We've explored many optimizations, but we're pushing boundaries with something truly unique that no one else has accomplished... so yea...

GiantessGameUE5

Well... this game hardly runs on PC... so it's impossible to run on mobile devices in the recent 2 years

yup, keep at it. You might pioneer a new Physics sim :) People might start using UE5 for destruction sims instead of Houdini 3D. Or maybe your friends at UE can figure out a new way to calc and render a sim.
