wow. another album of the year contender i think. am i tripping or does this guy have a flawless discography lol. also apologies if there are any jarring cuts after blackberry marmalade, normally we keep it all in but molly had a lot to say and it turned into a solace — earl sweatshirt type monologue 😭 anyway, curious to hear what you guys think. have a great weekend ✌️

Speaking of Earl, we need Some Rap Songs 😫

Highly, highly recommend TIGRAY FUNK - Sideshow. My AOTY Best new music from Pitchfork and truly an amazing project. Tigrayan rapper from the DMV with a lot of political themes surrounding the genocide and his upbringing.

100% one of the most underrated discographies🙂‍↕️

agreed. it's definitely up there for me too

Vince is my favorite rapper and this is closer to his earlier stuff but even better and overtly political which is a breath of fresh air. I’m a big fan of figurative language especially in rap obviously but I feel like the genre has been missing the directness a bit. The reason why is a much deeper convo so I’ll just leave it at that lol

Agreed, one of the best discographies in hip-hop and definitely this decade; would love to see y'all check out his self titled project (my favorite) and/or Ramona Park Broke My Heart at some point!!

I love this album. Every single song is a banger (that’s for Molly lol) but man if you guys have some free time, you don’t even need to react to it, just watch the live performance he did for the album release on YouTube. The bonus track Tulsa. INSANE! Also the live performance just had such a specific tone to it which I really loved but overall this album grows on me more & more with each listen. I’ve found a new appreciation for Cotton despite the subject matter being heavy and relevant throughout. Vince has seriously one of the craziest discographies of any rapper out there. It’s wild. Something else I love is that he’s honing in on taking back what’s considered by the label to not be “Hood” enough to sell records. The record sort of has this Little Richard, Chuck Berry blues rooted rock production tonally encapsulating his rap bars to kind of say “fuck you ima do it anyway since I’m not a slave to your label” he speaks on it during that live performance a little bit. So I find it interesting how much we perceive it as post punk/alternative rap when in reality he’s just essentially rapping over 50’s/60’s/70’s black rock that was stolen. Powerful stuff cause then you throw in the lyrics and it opens up an entire world of relevant topics that you stated is unfortunately timeless. Brilliant work and something that I think will be a (Vince) Staple in his discography for years to come.

Bro we need that Summertime '06 and that self titled.

I also can't (and refuse to) rank Vince's catalog. Summertime 06 is probably still my personal favorite after all these years but I don't know man. With everything else it depends on the day. Elite discography.
