This one is a less then subtle Star Wars version of the Akira Kurosawa’s “Seven Samurai” . Akira Kurosawa was a Japanese filmmaker that has inspired many directors to this day. He passed away in 1998. George Lucas was a big fan of Kurosawa. “Seven Samurai” and “Hidden Fortress” was a key source for the movies.

As a massive Obi-Wan fan, it really does amuse me how many people the group runs into who are also kinda fixated on the guy. In the stuff you've seen so far, Dooku would really, really like Obi-Wan to ditch the Jedi and help him take out his master, Sidious, and is quite disappointed that Qui-Gon's pupil seems to have trained such a meathead. Ventress and Obi-Wan have this weird *thing* and always half sound like they're about as likely to get a room as try to kill each other, and now here's Hondo, who held Obi-Wan captive but still kinda wants to be besties. It just makes me smile..

It is nice that Hondo's kowakian monkey-lizard is loyal to him, but personally I find them irritating and annoying. Next to Binks anyway.
