Let me know what you think. I made some tiny corrections after this video especially to upper bass which was still a bit off but I am pretty satisfied with the result now. Even my wife doesn’t complain about too much bass now 😎

UBoom L started to sound really V-shaped compared to X

S. Ayar

Waow Oluv it's crazy how you made UBoom X even more appealing then KH80. At 17:28 when you reduced the bass -2 db less in indoor mode it was amazing how clear, open and rich it sounded with better dimension and quality of bass and not quantity. And at 18:12 you did some magic I didn't understand but it become the most clean. I suggest trust your own ears and don't be afraid to reduce the bass and treble for indoor modes, that's the tasteful attitude we're missing at the market.

I just disabled bass boost for low levels. Below half volume there is a slight boost with indoor which you don’t have with studio

Hi Oluv, great after midnight recordings. Really chilling. Enjoyed hearing, how the sound changes/widens when you move closer for both setups. Then you switchedto surround mode and I was pleasantly surprised how it helped. Even more curious how it will sound in stereo setup (with 2nd Boom X) where horizontally placed drivers can cause comb filtering issues.

Hi. Not just room itself but speaker position in the room related to listener is almost as important. Google room modes (amcoustics)

Hi oluv, what about we enable the eq feature in studio/indoor mode? Just to see if we can suit different room mode, the outdoor/insane/booom xxX could remain disabled since it is already at its limit.

S. Ayar

That's true. But I don't expect him to make 20 mods for different positions. It's enough if he considers small rooms too, we can find the right position ourselves. Thanks for the amcoustics page, it looks interesting.

Luka Bošnjak

No, I wouldn't do that, you can do some eq yourself on default mode if you want, keep Oluv's settings to what he intended. Imo good speaker doesn't need an eq especially if the response is so good like here.

pokketa

well maybe just a simple one like oluv mentioned in 42:00, a filter for bass and treble control, I think this could be done, the eq should even give us more space to fix it but I guess it is alright, the uboomx sounding really good in this video that I don't think I would mind a little bass boost.

Gefällt mir sehr gut bisher. Wann wird der Lautsprecher in den Verkauf gehen?

Luka Bošnjak

Well, I would limit it then by using one or two filters only for lowering bass a few db if needed so you can't run the speaker into distortion or something like that...

oluvsgadgets

I asked if they could add an EQ with just negative gain for my settings but they couldn’t

Arturo

uboom l still sounds very good, nicely balanced for its size.

Luka Bošnjak

After proper listening, the Uboom X sounds amazing here, I know the Uboom L very well and how sweet it sounds but this... the quality coming out of it, so smooth and you even managed to somewhat capture the Neumanns in the indoor (and indoor+) mode as well. After hearing the Uboom L, I've been wandering about what would you be able to achieve on a more serious hardware and this is the answer. Stereo enhancement is so cool, even on lower volumes in the indoor mode the treble is not as boosted as the L but you can hear that it reveals more of the music. Also of course I'm gonna ask about Copenhagen as I really haven't heard a speaker which has a finer sound but judging from this video, some cheap Chinese boombox will probably kill it, at any volume level and in any use case... Honestly one of these will blow away any soundbar on the market and even most home stereo systems (especially if you have 2 in stereo as well).

Love it! Can’t wait to get a few X’s. Regarding the uboom L, will upgrading to firmware to allow app control keep the sound as good as your firmware? I love the sound of the uboom L and will not update the firmware if there is a chance of the tuning degrading. Thanks for all the love and passion you are putting into this project.

Hey Oluv, can you share the playlist from this listening session? I also have a relatively small bedroom myself, so I would agree that the Uboom L is a bit boomy for some tracks I listen to.

@Luka: A speaker for enthusiasts like most of us here, should be as less restricted as possible. It's about having the possibility when needed, since every room and placement can make the sound different, no matter how perfect a speaker is tuned. People who love to be restricted in everything and want to be tech-babysitted, can always buy jbl, bose, or apple...

Hey Oluv, Overall, I think the sound of the Uboom X is a significant improvement, but I believe it should sound more like the original song. As for the Uboom L, I feel the sound is more balanced, but it still stands out a bit more in the treble. It would be great if you could make a comparison video with the original sound of the songs to understand the sound difference and possibly correct some details 😊.

Math

I don't fully understand how Studio and Indoor differ. Don't they both strive to a neutral sound?

oluvsgadgets

Studio is just pure flat response with no bass boost at low levels and no stereo enhancing. Indoor is like studio but with a bit more spice and indoor+ even more of that salt & pepper added
