I decided to also prepare a more neutral tuning for the Charge 6 with a similar sound signature that you would get from a neutral studio monitor pair from the same listening position.

Due to limited EQ influence, this is the closest I could achieve, I think the result is still pretty usable but the speaker must be standing rather free and elevated and it's probaboy not that suitable for low levels, as it will appear too dark, but it's still the most neutral sounding signature that was possible for me.

I also tried optimising the "universal EQ" as I had noticed some weird 5khz emphasis when listened outdoors off-axis, therefore I readjusted this area which should give a nicer overall sound. The old "unversal EQ" is renamed to Helsinki now, as tI need to pay that legendary speaker some hommage because the sound of the Helsinki was definitely the template for that EQ and should remain standing for its own.

As an omni purpose EQ I settled for the new "universal EQ" , which so far gave me the best results all around like indoors placed at the table or outdoors also from higher listening angles, and it works well for low levels without sounding off.

I added all these EQs to my collection. Now just someone please contact JBL so that they fix this weird cricket artefact which they introduced with several of their speaker updates recently. Also please someone tell them that it's useless to waste 1/3 of volume in the upper volume range so that you can hardly control the speaker at low levels...

It just occurred to me, isn't it potentially problematic matching a speaker in front of you to speakers on the side in a stereo setup, not only because of the stereo difference which you recognize, but also it causes you to compensate for your individual HRTF differences between side placement and front placement. This difference is likely highly specific to each person, which limits generalizability to other people. Correction EQs though for similarly placed speakers are more generalizable for a wide audience because your individual HRTF is effectively mostly cancelled out. I wonder what you think of this

Hi Oluv, It seems that the newest firmware update (v2.1.8.1) has actually improved or fixed the high-frequency "cricket" chirping artifacts you mentioned previously. In this firmware, when i use studio eq, it’s listen some dark. Since my unit came with this v2.1.8.1 firmware straight out of the box, I never had the chance to hear the previous baseline to compare the exact differences myself. Given these potential underlying DSP changes, would it be possible for you to test this new firmware when you have time, and perhaps do a revised tuning or check if the current presets need any specific adjustments? Thanks for all your amazing work!
